OIP offers a “Teach Abroad Opportunity” for Northeastern students
2015 Fall Term Program has Two Options:
1) NEIU-TaLK: Teach and Learn in Korea (For Undergraduates)
2) NEIU-EPIK: English Programs in Korea (For Graduates)
Option 1: NEIU-TaLK





Application Due Date: March 31, 2015
No Korean language skill is needed
Have a great volunteer and service opportunity with more than $10,000 value scholarship.
Teach oral English communication skills in an elementary school in South Korea for
3 hours a day in an after-school program subsidized by the Korean Ministry of Education.
Have wonderful travel opportunities while doing meaningful work and making a positive impact on
Korean English language education-- a great addition to your professional resume.
Make new international friends.
Eligibility/Requirements to Apply





Native English speaker and citizen of the U.S.
Must be at least in junior class status:
A minimum of 2 years college enrollment with a minimum of 60 credit hours
Accept a 1 semester commitment.
Must register for at least one approved course.
*If you need to keep at least 6 credit hours for your financial aid or scholarship, consult with OIP.
*Master’s students or graduates: consult with OIP

Commitments



Term & Type: 6 Months Intern Teaching/Service Learning
Work Description: Co-teaching with Korean English Korean language teacher
Instruction: 15 hours per week (English conversational classes)
Benefits (from Korean Government)





Monthly cash stipend (about $1,400 -$1,500)
One-time settlement fee (about $300)
Housing (one-room studio style, furnished)
Round-Trip Airfare*
Health Insurance
Option 2: NEIU-EPIK





Application Due Date: March 10, 2015
No Korean language skill is needed
Responsible for jointly teaching English classes with a native Korean co-teacher.
Teach oral English communication skills in an elementary school in South Korea.
Have wonderful travel opportunities while doing meaningful work and making a positive
impact on Korean English language education -- a great addition to your professional resume.
Make new international friends.
Eligibility/Requirements to Apply




Native English speaker and a citizen of the U.S.
College of Education graduate who has a teaching license, B.Ed., M.Ed. or
Any college graduate who has completed TESL/TEFL minor courses that include 20 hour in-class
component
College graduates who have 1 year of NEIU-TaLK program experience

Commitments



Term & Type: 1 year full-time English language teaching

Instruction: 22 hours per week (English conversational classes)
