Admission to the Teacher Education Program in
Foreign Languages: French, German, or Spanish
(BA in Modern Language & Culture: Concentration II)
Last updated August 15, 2014
After completing all of the above and conferring with your FLED advisor, you will be ready to
submit your application to the Undergraduate Teacher Preparation Admissions Coordinator in the
Teacher Education Advisement Center (TEAC), 1st floor of Kennesaw Hall in Suite 1314.
You should be completing the requirements for admission to the FLED program while
concurrently applying for admission to TE. See the FLED requirements below. You will not be
fully admitted to the TE program until the FLED requirements are met and your application has
been approved by the FLED Admissions and Academic Standards Committee.
II. ADDITIONAL CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO THE FLED PROGRAM
The application form for admission to the FLED program is found at
http://foreignlanguages.hss.kennesaw.edu/resources/fled/. Students must complete the following
requirements for admission to the FLED program in addition to the requirements for admission to
Teacher Education in the Bagwell College of Education.



Complete an oral interview in the target language with Ms. Karen Graf (Spanish;
kgraf1@kennesaw.edu), Dr. Susanne Kelley (German; skelle16@kennesaw.edu) or Dr.
William Griffin (French; wgriffin@kennesaw.edu). It is best to schedule this interview
near the completion of the 2002 intermediate courses (FREN 2002/GRMN 2002/SPAN
2002). The interview takes about 30 minutes. The evaluating faculty member will
communicate your evaluation results to you at the time of the interview and send those
results to the Coordinator of the FLED program, Dr. Angela George.
Request a recommendation from the instructors of your two most recent French, German,
or Spanish courses, assessing your language skills as well as your potential for success in
the program. If you have not had any courses at the 3000-level, one evaluation from
FREN 2002 or SPAN 2002 will suffice. You can obtain the form from online at:
http://foreignlanguages.hss.kennesaw.edu/docs/fled_recommendation-form.doc. You
must provide the Instructor Recommendation form to the recommending instructor and
request that s/he send it directly to the Coordinator of the FLED program, Dr. Angela
George.
Maintain a C average in your target language courses taken at KSU.
