Strengthening Competitiveness and Capacities of the AF Sector
 There were 30 participants who graduated in the Training/training-related activities in
support to OA Production Technologies (GAD & IPs) held at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay
City, Bukidnon last September 1-3,2015. It was conducted in support to Gender and
Development (GAD) and Indigenous People (IPs). The participants were able to prepare
Herbal Tea, Infused Water, Soil Media preparation.
 A Knowledge and Scientific Learning on Organic Agriculture in Support to the Local
Technical Committee was conducted last September 8-10 at Veranda, Casisang,
Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. The activity was conducted to orient the participants on what is
best suited to a particular ecosystem.
 A Training on Organic Concoction and Extracts, Feed Formulation and Chicken
Raising/Management was held at Aces Polytechnic College last September 15-19. There
were 22 participants who joined the training and the participants had hands-on
preparation of Concoctions, Formulated Feeds, making Beddings for Chickens.
 Training on Organic Herbs and Spices Production and Utilization was conducted for Person
with Disabilities (PWDs). It was held at Talam's Florae-Looc, Plaridel, Misamis Occidental
last Sept. 22-24 with 24 participants. The training helped a lot of the participants to
understand the difference between herbs and spices and know their uses to maximize its
therapeutic properties. They prepared Herbal Tea, Infused Water and Soil Media
preparation.
 Two batches of Training on Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas Program
(SCOPSA) were conducted to AEWs and farmers in the region to address the problem in
Corn Production in sloping areas. It was conducted last September 22-24 and September
30- October 2.
 Greening Cities: Training on Urban Edible Landscaping was participated by AEWs, farmers,
RIC members held at Jaya Secret Garden, Barangay 1, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon last
September 9-11. This training was done to equip the trainees in installing and lay-outing an
organic garden in a limited space. Jaya’s secret Garden is a Learning Site of ATI and it is
their first time to conduct a training in their farm.

Two batches of Training of Trainers on Quality and Safety Management for Fruits and
Vegetable Processing and Packaging (HACCP, SSOP, GMP/GHP) were conducted and
participated by extension workers and famers last September 7-9 (batch 1) and September
23-25 (batch 2). The participants gained more knowledge and understanding on quality
and safety management for fruits and vegetable and the application of HACCP principles,
the relationship between GHP and GMP (pre-requisite programmes) and HACCP-based
food safety management systems.
 Training of Trainers on Good Agricultural Practices for Mango Production was conducted to
extension workers and some farmers last September 2-4 held at Harbor Lights Hotel &
Restaurant, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City. The training enhanced the participants’ knowledge
in competencies on the Code of Practice for Philippine National Standards: Good
Agricultural Practices on Mango Production that are geared towards food safety and
quality for the production and post-harvest of mango.
 There were two batches of training of Trainers on Coffee Production and Post-harvest
Technology conducted to AEWs and farmers last September 9-11 and 16-18. The
participants came up with an action plan for their municipality.
 Capacitating Agricultural Extension Workers in Support to Rice Program was participated
by AEWs last September 7-11 at Deluxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. The participants
enhanced their knowledge in Rice especially in Palay Check System.
III.
Expanding Partnerships in Advancing Excellence in AFE Delivery.
 Jayasree Bayag, a 10 year old young agripreneur and 4H Club member acted as Resource
Speaker during the 2015 National Agriculture, Fisheries and National Resources Extension
Symposium last September 29-October 2 held at Asian Institute of Management
Conference Center, Legaspi Village, Makati City together with her mother, Hazel Fe Bayag.
Jaya held the audience in awe by her hands-on knowledge and excellent and heartfelt
delivery regarding her experiences in the farm and how to earn money in the farm.
IV.
Scaling-Up AFE innovations
 A Learning Site Summit: Assessing Performance, demystifying e-Trading and identifying
Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) Certification Strategies towards a stronger presence in
the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) last September 1-3 at Deluxe Hotel, Cagayan de
Oro City was conducted even if it was not targeted. Thirty-five learning site cooperators
attended the LEARNING SITE SUMMIT: They organize themselves into an association
named FILFARM (Filipino Farmers are Ready to Market) to be able to market their products
collectively and in complementation. During the summit, GAP strategies were discussed.
Fifteen of the participants even signified to apply for GAP Certification with the assistance
of ATI.
 The advocacy of ATI-RTC 10 to capacitate LS cooperators to conduct trainings bore fruit
when Jaya Secret Garden conducted its first training on Edible Organic Landscaping which
is applied in the site. This was participated by 25 farmers mostly from Cagayan de Oro City
and Malaybalay City. The summit was conducted to ensure the continuous development of
each farm. Mr. Bayag, the owner served as the main resource person and the practicum
activities were done onsite.
V.
Strengthening AFE Stakeholders’ Capacity in Climate Change Adaptation & Readiness
 Training on Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation on OPV White Corn was participated
by 24 AEWs and farmers last September 16-18 at Veranda, Casisang, Malaybalay City,
Bukidnon. The participants come up with an action plan for their areas in order to mitigate
climate change nowadays.
 A training on Greening Cities was conducted and participated by 25 farmers from Cagayan
de Oro City and Malaybalay City. The participants were encouraged to go into urban edible
organic landscaping.
VI.
Improving Enabling Environment and Quality of Governance
 Last September 4, ATI-RTC X inaugurated its new building with a dormitory and session hall
with a capacity to hold 100 training participants. Together with the inauguration are
activities of both traditional Filipino games and ball games which was participated by the
center employees, 4H Club members and scholars, farmer-cooperators, and learning site
owners.
 ATI-RTC X Focal Persons Mr. Efren C. Macario, Admin. Officer IV/ FBS Focal Person, Ms.
Maria Lydia A. Echavez, Training Center Superintendent I/Livestock Focal Person, Noemi
Beth G. Macario, Information Officer III/e-Extension Focal Person, Ma. Eloisa A. Akut,
Information Officer II/ RBO & 4-H Focal Person, Javier P. Andalan, Organic Focal Person,
Teodosia D. Jaraba, HVCDP Focal Person attended the 2015 National Agriculture, Fisheries
and National Resources Extension Symposium last September 29- October 2 held at Asian
Institute of Management Conference Center, Legaspi Village, Makati City.
 Ms. Shiela Marie Anne Casabar and Ms. Melody Salcedo, Admin. Assistant attended the
Supply & Property Management Training on September 27-30 at ATI- Central Office. The
training enhanced the staff’s skills in improving the management of supply and property.
 Mr. Efren Macario and Mael Japeth Alvarez attended the Training on Geo-tagging at
Harborlights Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City last. The training was a very useful technology to
determine validity of activities, trainings, projects on specific locations with the use of GPS
and to provide other useful information.
 Dr. Angelito Y. Quirog, attended the launching of the first ATI food hub named “ATIng
Organiko” which is located at ACES Farm, Panabo, Davao City.
 Six ATI staff attended the Civil Service Seminar last September 17-18 held at Mindanao
University Science and Technology. The said seminar helped the staff’s awareness in the
government laws.
 Ms. Noemi Beth G. Macario and Honeylou G. Cababaros attended the International
Conference for e-Learning (ICE) on September 16-18 at Intercontinental Hotel, Makati City.
 Ms. Noemi Beth G. Macario attended the Digital Strategies for Development Summit:
Accelerating Inclusive Development through ICT Innovation. This is a Knowledge Exchange
Forum for Asia-Pacific and Beyond. The 3-day conference was held at Waterfront Cebu City
Hotel. Ms. Macario together with Ms. Arceo at the ATI Central Office represented ATI in
the forum.
