Late work Policy:
Homework is expected to be turned in on the day it is due. Students should not turn in assignments late.
If an assignment is turned in after its due date, the grade will be penalized 10% for every day it is late.
Assignments will only be accepted up to five days following the due date, unless alternative arrangements
are made with the teacher.
Makeup Work:
The teacher shall provide an opportunity for a student to make up missed work due to any absence, and students
shall be held accountable for the work. When a student is absent, the educational experiences lost during that
absence might be irretrievable because the instruction and interaction in the instructional setting cannot be
duplicated through makeup work.

Per CCSD Regulation 5113 After any absence, a secondary student is required to initiate contact with the
teacher(s) to obtain appropriate makeup work within three school days immediately following the absence.
Once contact has been made with the teacher(s), specific makeup work must be completed and returned to the
teacher(s) within a reasonable length of time, to be determined by the teacher and communicated to the
student/parent or legal guardian. The makeup work must be returned to the teacher(s) by the specified due date
if it is to be acknowledged. Students shall be allowed a minimum of three (3) days to complete makeup work.
School sponsored activities are not a valid excuse for missing class work. It is the responsibility of the student
to ensure that work is turned in on time. Since school sponsored activities are preplanned, please make
arrangements to turn your work in early if a problem may arise.

Behavior expectations:
All students are expected to behave appropriately while at school, on the bus, or at any extracurricular
activities. In order to guarantee a successful learning environment for all students, the following school-wide
discipline plan has been formulated. It is based on the expectation that:
· No student will interfere with teacher instruction.
· No student will interfere with another student’s learning.
· No student will engage in any behavior that is not in his/her best interest or in the best interest of
others.
3
Veterans Tribute Career & Technical Academy
2014-2015 Course Expectations
When students engage in inappropriate behavior, a progressive discipline plan will be followed that will include
firm, fair, and consistent action. Depending on the infraction, the discipline may include:
·
Warning
·
Parental Contact
.
Required Parent Conference
·
Suspension
Students may be subject to a range of disciplinary actions based on the nature of the infraction, the number and type
of behavioral referrals, and the frequency at which the student is referred for disciplinary action. Students and
parents are responsible for reviewing the CCSD Student Behavior Guidelines (available on line at CCSD.net. type in search student behavior), and the Student Handbook.
Depending on severity of the student action, the teacher may send the student to the Discipline Office at any time.
TARDY POLICY
Students are expected to be in the class and seated when the tardy bell rings including first period. Students
have four minutes to pass from one class to another. There is no warning bell. Students arriving late to school
for any reason will be marked tardy.
If the student is more than 30 minutes late to any class period, the student will be marked absent. If the
student is late due to a medical appointment, the parent/guardian must provide documentation to the attendance
clerk when the student arrives on campus.
If the student needs to use the restroom, the student must arrive to their next classroom first, and then obtain
permission/restroom pass from the instructor.
Students tardy to class will be subject to the following discipline:
First Infraction
Verbal Warning
Second Infraction
Parent Contact by Teacher
Third Infraction
Required Parent Conference (RPC-A)
Fourth Infraction
Required Parent Conference (RPC-T)
Fifth Infraction
Suspension
Cheating/Plagiarism/Code of Honor: CCSD requires every student and parent/guardian to sign a Code of
Honor the first week of school. There is a clear expectation that all students will perform academic tasks with
honor and integrity, with the support of parents, staff, faculty, administration, and the community. The learning
process requires students to think, process, organize and create their own ideas. Throughout this process,
students gain knowledge, self-respect, and ownership in the work that they do. These qualities provide a solid
foundation for life skills, impacting people positively throughout their lives. Cheating and plagiarism violate the
fundamental learning process and compromise personal integrity and one’s honor. Students demonstrate
academic honesty and integrity by not cheating, plagiarizing or using information unethically in any way.
Consequences: (Depending on the scope of the infraction)
 First Infraction: Counseling Referral , Documentation in Deans' Office, Loss of Credit for Assignment,
"U" in Citizenship and possible Required Parent Conference (RPC)
 Second Infraction: Required RPC, Loss of Credit for Assignment, "U" in Citizenship and possible
Suspension
 Third and Fourth Infraction: Suspension, Loss of Credit and possible Referred to Zone School
Graphic Material statement: Due to the curriculum that will be covered in the program classes, the class
content and materials may be of a mature and graphic nature. All content and materials are subject
to parental review by contacting VTCTA at 799-4710 and making arrangements with the instructor.
