genes and chromosomes in the process
of inheriting a specific trait.

How are traits passed from parent to
offspring?
How are dominant or recessive genes
expressed?
Gregor Mendel discovered that
parent's traits do not blend in their
offspring. Traits are determined by
individual, separate alleles inherited
from each parent. Some alleles are
recessive, and some are dominant.
Often the recessive trait is hidden by a
dominant trail. One that always shows
if present.
