Job Title: Site Health & Safety and Quality Manager

Location: Leyland, Lancashire
Overview of the post: To work closely with the Safety and Site Management teams, to deliver industry-leading levels of performance in terms of Health and
Safety culture and compliance.
Provide professional Health and Safety and Quality advice and support.
Main Duties;
Take ownership of the company HSQ management systems to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO9001 and OHSAS18001
Undertake regular internal audits across the ISO9001 and OHSAS18001 standards and implement best practice accordingly
Drive continuous improvement, minimising the potential likelihood of workplace accidents and incidents by creating a zero harm culture in the business
Provide day-to-day professional advice, guidance and support to Directors and the management team on occupational Health & Safety matters to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standard
Oversee contractor safety to include the vetting process, permit to work systems and review of RAMS
Conduct weekly safety inspections of the plant, reporting deficiencies in equipment to maintenance for inspection and/or repair
Work with the training department in writing and delivering training packages and toolbox talks to plant operatives
Review and appraisal of risk assessments, work instructions and procedures allowing safe systems of work to be established/maintained
Oversee the reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses and ensuring their investigation and close out on Airsweb system
Writing of informational and statistical reports for stakeholders and the monthly Business Review
Deliver monthly H&S update to site personnel via the Business Review meeting
Chair the monthly H&S Committee meeting
Attendance of various H&S lead meetings with stakeholders and the senior leadership team
Keep the company up-to-date with the latest changes in H&S legislation and implement change accordingly
Review Occupational Health records ensuring the best outcome for the individual and the company
Ownership of site H&S budget
Person Specification;
Act as a role model by providing strong, united and inspiring leadership in displaying the groups vision and values to internal and external stakeholders
Be accountable for delivering continuous H&S improvement in a streamlined and cost effective way without compromising quality
Background in developing and implementing H&S strategy, policies and training
Experience of updating quality manuals, implementing action plans and the ability to deal with non-conformances that arise as a result of the audit process
Self-starter with good time management skills and the ability to prioritise, plan and organise own workload
Ability to influence and communicate effectively, both in verbal and written form at every level, working autonomously using your own initiative and with a pro-active, flexible, can do attitude
Qualifications & Experience;
Membership of IOSH (desirable)
IOSH qualified (essential), NEBOSH (desirable)
Experience in dealing with safety and health regulatory agencies
Relevant experience working as a qualified safety professional within a large multi-disciplined organisation
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of
Management
Experience of compiling reports
Understanding of UK H&S legislation
Ability to ‘think outside the box’
Desirable:
Graduate-calibre individual with relevant post-qualification experience and a NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety legislation along with Quality experience.
