Tuesday Classes: Little Flowers Beginning Watercolor Class with Jane Sellier, 4 weeks, June 2 – 23. $75, $65, Studio 5. Watercolor painting has always bee popular. Maybe you’d like to try it too. This class is designed for people who haven’t used the medium before so now is your chance! There will be step-bystep instructions that are easy to follow so everyone can paint successfully. Pottery – Intermediate to Advanced with Maria Spies: Tuesdays: 9:30 – 12:30 $90, $160, $150 – 8:30pm, $160, $150 Members –This class with Maria as she discusses and demonstrates pottery forms and their functions. Pottery forms often follow function; to fit the hand or pour a certain liquid. In this class you’re the artist, so form and surface decoration may come first. Express yourself! You may decorate the surface with carvings, slips and glazes to make every piece unique. Maria will help each student on the pottery wheel or with hand building to advance your pottery skills. Pieces created in class may be fired as part of the class. All other pieces will be charged the appropriate fee for firing and glazing. Clay may be purchased as needed. This Abstract Painting course will describe and reveal itself as we experience the gamut and FUN of this genre of art. This class is designed for oil and acrylics painting. No experience necessary. Abstract art is its own unique experience. We will paint like we never painted before. Each work is spontaneous and not bound by rules of representational art. We will not fear our own originality! Paint with whatever medium you are comfortable with. Wednesday Classes: Beginning to Intermediate Pottery with Shane Reynolds,$160, $150, 9:00 – noon, Studio 3. Whether you are a true “newbie” to pottery or have some skill that you want to enhance, Shane will demonstrate techniques and work with each student on their projects. This class will cover wheel thrown pottery as well as individual direction in hand building. You will learn to slip, glaze or carve to give your work its own personality. Thursday Classes: Brushstrokes & Brilliance with Loran Chavez, 4 weeks, June 4 – 25, Studio 4. $85, $75. This bare bones acrylic class brings you back to basics using demonstrations and instruction. Learn several techniques, including blending, mediums, patterns – how to make them!, color mixing to avoid making mud, the value of values, layering and glazing. You will learn the value of a limited palette and good quality brushes. We will learn how to paint water, building, glass. Flowers, reflections and so much more!
