The Zombies wow visitors at The British Invasion exhibition launch To celebrate the opening of the world–first GRAMMY Museum exhibition, the Beatles Story held a star studded launch with an exclusive performance from 1960’s English rock legends, The Zombies. Guests received the red carpet treatment on the night with welcome cocktails from The Smugglers Cove in the Beatles Story, Pier Head’s Fab Four Café before taking a surprise trip on the Mersey Ferry where they were entertained with music from The Zombies ‘The British Invasion: How 1960s beat groups conquered America’ is home to over 80 never seen before artefacts including The Supremes costumes, The Zombies tour jacket and the opportunity to have a virtual drum lesson with former Beatle, Ringo Starr. On the evening, a new addition to the exhibit, Keith Moon’s Premier 12 piece drum kit from 1974, was unveiled. Celebrities turned up in their droves to see the new exhibition and some to see their own artefacts on show such as Bobby Elliott of The Hollies. Over 150 guests were entertained throughout the night with hit songs including ‘She’s Not There’ and ‘Time of the Season’ from The Zombies and were given a private tour around the exhibit. Martin King of the Beatles Story said: “The event was a huge success and it was fantastic to see so many turn out to view the new exhibit and meet The GRAMMY museum team from L.A. It really is impressive and we have already had so many guests giving us great feedback. “We wanted it to be a memorable night and I’m sure it was after the fantastic performance from one of the British Invasion bands themselves, The Zombies.” Robert Santelli, Executive Director of the Grammy Museum, added: ““The Grammy Museum is excited to tell the story of the British Invasion of America in Liverpool, the city where it all started. The wave of British rock & roll that hit America in the 1960s profoundly impacted our music and culture, and continues to do so today." The exhibit is now open at the Beatles Story, Pier Head and tickets can be booked here for £14.95: click here.
