Word Study Homework
Please choose three assignments to complete for homework each week. By the end of
the week, you will want to have completed a Tic-Tac-Toe. Word Study homework is due
every Friday. Remember to label each assignment with the title of the activity that you
chose to complete and the date. All assignments should be completed in your Word
Study Notebook. On Friday, staple this sheet on the next blank page in your Word Study
Notebook. Remember to always do your best and neatest work!
Friendly Letter
Write a letter to a friend,
family member or teacher
using at least 7 of your
words. Underline each
word in your letter.
Picture Word Hunt
Find at least 5 pictures in
magazines, newspapers or
online that represent words
that can fit your sort. Cut
and paste these pictures
into your word study
notebook and then write
one sentence explaining how
each picture represents
each word.
Synonyms
Choose 10 words from your
list and write a synonym for
each word.
Wordle
Create a word cloud at
www.wordle.net with all of
your words. Print your
wordle and paste into your
word study notebook.
Context Sentences
Choose 8 words from your
list this week. Write a
sentence for each word
that shows the word’s
meaning. Underline each
word in each sentence.
Poem
Create a poem that uses at
least 5 words from this
week’s sort.
New Words
Find 12 new words that
follow your sort’s pattern.
Riddle
Create a “What Word Am
I?” Riddle for 5 words from
your sort. Describe each
Story
Write a short story using at
least 10 of your words and
underline them. Be sure
word and give one of this
week’s words for the
answer.
