Advertisement of Risk Sharing Grant Opportunity for Interested Entrepreneurs to Invest in
Breeder Parent Stock Farm and Hatchery Establishment in Herat
MAIL/CARD-F Herat Commercial Poultry Value Chain Project
The comprehensive Agriculture and Rural Development Facility (CARD-F) is implementing a dairy value
chain development and a Commercial Poultry Value Chain development Project in Herat Province whose
aim is to increase the knowledge and awareness, in rural communities of Herat Province, of mechanisms
to gain legitimate income from dairy and poultry farming.
The poultry value chain also includes commercial production of day-old chicks through establishment of
Broiler Breeder Farms and Hatchery, intended to supply day-old chicks to the new and existing poultry
farms.
For the establishment of the aforementioned one unit of Breeder Farm and one unit of Hatchery, CARD-F
considers risk-sharing grant which will be awarded to the successful entrepreneurs interested to invest in
this component.
Therefore, CARD-F would like to announce and inform all interested investors to apply for the following
grant opportunities.
1.
Broiler breeder farms establishment (with annual capacity to produce 1.2 million hatching eggs)
(With hatching capacity of up to 100,000 eggs per month)
a) The estimated cost of 10000 broiler breeder farm is up to USD 250,000 and CARD-F
contribution to it may be up to 50%. The CARD-F grant will be used specifically in equipment
procurement and building construction.
b) The land procurement and operational cost is 100% responsibility of the grantee.
c) If managed properly will generate USD up to 100,000 per year.
In Breeder farm establishment the grant awarded includes a portion of capital cost whilst all the
operational cost is the responsibility of investor.
1. Commercial size Hatchery establishment (With hatching capacity up to 100,000 eggs per month)
a) The estimated cost of hatchery establishment is up to USD 234,000 and CARD-F
contribution to it may be up to 50% .CARD-F grant will be used specifically in
machinery procurement and building construction.
b) The land procurement and operational cost is 100% responsibility of the grantee.
c) The cash flow point out that per annum gross profit is ranged between USD 40,000 to
50,000 (depends on inputs price and end product sale price).
In Breeder Farm and Hatchery establishment, the grant awarded includes a portion of capital cost whilst
all the operational cost is the responsibility of the investor.
Application guideline:
Documents required:
All interested entrepreneurs should submit one original and two copies of the following documents


Brief introduction of your current business including your profile in poultry sector
Marketing Plan and Strategy (i.e. Production & Marketing)
Management Team/Organizational Structure
Detailed budget and cash flow
Cost-benefit analysis
Appendices & Acknowledgements
The required documents should be signed & stamped and submitted in sealed envelope before the
deadline.

Supporting documents and conditions:
a) Applicants should submit a copy of his company valid registration document (License);
b) Applicants should submit his company bank statements for the past six months showing a closing
balance of at least USD 300,000.00 (Three hundred thousand);
c) Land ownership evidence (Qabala). The land should be technically suitable for breeder farm and
Hatchery establishment. Land document with ambiguities will be not accepted and considered;
d) Land should have necessary utilities such as access to potable water, road, and preferred of have
access to electricity too and etc.;
e) The company shall demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in the poultry sector;
f) The winner part should complete the construction works within 6 months after signing the
agreement.
Note: Those companies/beneficiaries who have already received or are in the selection process for other
packages to receive CARD-F grant, may also be considered to apply for this opportunity preference and
priority will be given to new entrepreneurs.
