Students start at Freshman level where they learn basic theory and practical skills. After successful completion of this level, students graduate to working with live clients in our clinic. All work is monitored by a licensed instructor. The skills learned throughout the program will prepare students to take the State Board Exam and to obtain an entry-level position. Instructor Training: Cosmetology 500 Hour Course Description: The State of Illinois requires Cosmetologists, with two years’ experience, wishing to obtain the Instructor license to take 500 hours of training which takes approximately five (5) months to complete on a full-time schedule. The course is designed to teach the methods and principles of teaching. Upon completion students will be prepared to take the State Board Exam to acquire the Instructor license. Instructor Training: Cosmetology-1000 Hour Course Description: The State of Illinois requires Cosmetologists wishing to obtain the Instructor license to take 1000 hours of training, if they do not have a least two years’ experience, which takes approximately nine (9) months to complete on a full-time schedule. The course is designed to teach the methods and principles of teaching. Upon completion students will be prepared to take the State Board Exam to acquire the Instructor license. Program Start Dates New classes start every 11 weeks 2015 October 13 2016 January 5 March 15 May 24 August 9 October 25 Instructor program starts are considered case-by-case. *Must enroll at least two weeks prior to start date Career Opportunities in the fields of Cosmetology, Nail Technology and Instructor These are just a few of the career options available: Cosmetology or Instructor Stylist Nail Technician Make-up Technician Platform Artist Product Representative Salon Owner or Manager State Board Member Skin Care Specialist Nail Technician Product Representative State Board Member State Board Examiner Instructor Admission Requirements Cosmetology Student Must be at least 16 years of age Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED certificate Cosmetology Instructor Student 500 hour Must be at least 18 years of age Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED certificate Must have a valid Cosmetologist license Must have worked as a Cosmetologist or Nail Technologist for two years. Cosmetology Instructor Student 1000 hour Must be at least 18 years of age Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED certificate Must have a valid Cosmetologist license Prospective students must complete an application form with a $100.00 registration fee and provide the school with the following documents appropriate to their chosen course: A copy of a valid, government issued id A copy of high school diploma or GED certificate (or college transcript or diploma) A copy of social security card A 500-word essay on why you would like to enter the program and the industry and where you see yourself in 5 years A copy of a valid Cosmetologist license (Instructor) *Prospective students must submit all documents and the registration fee before they will be considered for enrollment. **Prospective students are not considered enrolled until an Enrollment Contract has been completed. All blanks must be filled in and the contract must be signed by the student, parent or guardian and the administrator. Prospective students under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian signature. Hours Full-Time Only Tuesday -Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm & Saturday 8:00am to 12:00pm These are just a few of the payment options available to students. Make an appointment with Admissions to find out about other payment options and scholarships available. Payment Options for Cosmetology Program 1. Ten (10) monthly payments of $1,295.45. * 2. Nine (10) monthly payments of $500.00 with final payment of $9,250.00 due in the eleventh month. * 3. Eighteen (18) monthly payments of $842.94. This option requires a credit check. This option has a 9% interest rate and requires the signing of an additional contract with our financing company. This option also requires a cosigner. * 4. Twenty-four (24) monthly payments of $664.14. This option requires a credit check. This option has a 12% interest rate and requires the signing of an additional contract with our financing company. This option requires a cosigner. * 5. Financial Aid for those who qualify. Ask for information if interested. * Requires the down payment of Registration Fee and Kit Fee at least two (2) weeks before the start of class.
