This phone tree needs to be distributed to all school personnel. An up to date detailed map of school buildings and surroundings. The map will include notations of all emergency devices, evacuation routes, telephone locations, stairways, exits, windows, fire extinguishers, and safety places. Also included will be a blueprint of the school, a picture of the school, and an aerial view picture of the school. The principal, assistant principal, janitors, and maintenance personnel will have keys to all school doors. All keys will be identifiable. Keys will be updated with any lock changes in the school. The bell schedule is the times during the school day the bell rings. A comprehensive list of all buses and their scheduled arrival and departure times. The bus numbers are a way to identify each bus. Master schedule is the class schedule for the year. List of all students is an alphabetical listing of each student enrolled in the school. Crisis management procedures are the specific steps that will be taken if a crisis occurs in the school. Members of the crisis team should include: School Administrators, School Counselors, identified teachers, School Psychologist, School Social Worker, school nurse, and other significant adults. Each member of the crisis team will be responsible for a specific task. This is a sheet that all members of the crisis team sign upon arrival and departure that includes times. Name badges for crisis response team are identification measures. Statement to media will be a single statement response that includes only facts. There will be only one spokesperson for the school (AP). A statement that informs parents of the facts pertaining to a crisis and the procedures that are being followed. Sample Statement Informing Faculty and Staff of Crisis/Procedures Sample Announcement for Classroom or School Wide Communication Resource Telephone Numbers of Community Resources Telephone Numbers of Parent Network, School Volunteers, Clergy, and Other Resource People Walkie Talkies A statement that informs faculty and staff members of the facts pertaining to the crisis and the procedures that are being followed. An announcement that informs students and staff of information pertaining to the specific crisis. Telephone numbers of specific community resources that may need to be contacted in the case of an emergency. A listing of contact information for parents, school volunteers, clergy, and other resource people that include phone numbers. A means of communication to use during a crisis.
