Fowler, Th.B., M.Min., M.A., Ph.D. (Member: American Association of Christian Counselors) A Connellsville District Continuing Education Event Dr. Bruce K. Fowler, Th.B., M.Min., M.A., Ph.D. (Member: American Association of Christian Counselors) Dr. Fowler has had almost 50 years experience in Christian counseling in both private practice and in state institutions. He taught Pastoral Counseling and Biblical Psychology at International Christian University (San Juan, Puerto Rico) – and as guest professor in many seminaries and Bible training schools around the world --and served as Puerto Rican National Director of prison chaplaincy during part of the twelve years he and his wife, Judy, were missionaries in that country. His experience in counseling in volatile situations and in many countries includes dealing with severe abuse situations, major psychotic dysfunctions, marriage and family issues, addictive and compulsive behaviors; and many other relational, psychological and spiritual problems. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Fowler served as a clinical psychologist for the state of Oregon for seven years with institutionalized and developmentally disabled and psychotic adults. In that setting, he confirmed that the Bible itself was the key to emotional healing and mental health, even in secular contexts where its truth could be applied. Dr. Fowler and his wife, Judy have been counseling in the W. Pennsylvania area since 1995, working closely with pastors, churches, missionaries, and community mental health organizations both in the U.S. and other countries. Many of his current counseling clients are themselves pastors, missionaries, and therapists,. Dr. Fowler regularly travels to other countries to teach counseling in seminaries and pastoral settings.
