RULES and REGULATIONS ARCHIVAL USE It is the responsibility of archives workers to preserve the records as carefully as possible so that they will be available to researchers for many years to come. The measures listed below are necessary to retard or prevent the deterioration of or damage to archival records. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance at any time! 1. All folders, briefcases, purses and carrying cases will be placed in lockers. Visitors are asked to turn off all cell phones and pagers 2. Coats and raingear hung up in the entryway to the Museum 3. All materials will be retrieved and filed/shelved by museum/archival personnel only 4. Laptop computers may be used, but laptop bags will need to be placed in lockers 5. All researchers are required to fill out a request form for research purposes only. Please allow two (2) weeks for extensive research information 6. Paper and Toner in photocopy and microfilm reader will be replaced by museum/archival personnel only 7. No pens, pencils only will be used. Note cards/paper will be provided. Researchers are required to present this paper and any other material to staff for inspection before it is removed from the Archives 8. No food or drinks in the Archives 9. Gloves will be worn at all times when handling books, newspapers, photographs, etc. Gloves will be furnished by the Archives 10. Research materials may not be removed from the Archives 11. Researchers must exercise every precaution to prevent damage to the materials. Materials must not be marked on, leaned on, folded anew, traced, or handled in any way likely to result in damage. Loose sheets and bound pages should be handled gently and by their edges to prevent soiling the surface of the paper 12. Documents and volumes must lie flat on the table. They are not be placed in the lap or propped against the edge of the table 13. Persons under 15 years of age are not permitted to use the materials unless accompanied by an adult. One adult per juvenile researcher is required, and that person will be held responsible for the child's conduct in the Archives. Children under the age of 12 are not admitted into the Archives 14. Loud talking and activities likely to disturb other researchers are prohibited in the Archives Photocopies are 25 cents per copy Digital images are $2.50 per image Research: $25 initial fee for research with additional $25 per hour after first hour
