1.
Why should you partner with the alumni association?
(10 minutes)
Caroline Norelius, BSU Foundation
Shared information to assist with connecting with alumni from colleges. Asked for faculty who would attract young
alumni to upcoming cruise event. Also shared information about event planning in terms of timelines needed to
market and promote the event, etc. Ideally would like a year from start to finish. Homecoming is weekend of
October 18.
2.
IT discussion
(10 minutes)
Robb Carothers/Melissa Arneson
Update on new reporting plan; CIO duties were moved under Bob Griggs, Bill Maki and Scott Faust. Lynda.com
contract has been negotiated and will be rolled out in August with access through MyBSU portal. No longer have
BSU computer store; has move some of the services to the bookstore. StarID to D2L transition will happen on Aug
4. Computer refresh has been pushed out one more year; will deal with replacements on a case by case basis this
year. Not enough machines for all GAs and adjuncts – addressing this by adding computers to as many classrooms
as possible. These will be listed on the ATC website. Will reinforce one computer per user policy. Also strongly
discouraging personal printers on campus to save costs. Reminder of new faculty orientation scheduled during start
up.
3.
Final MAP version (carry over item)
Attachment 1, 2, 3
Martin
Review updated MAP and timeline. Will be discussed at next meeting.
4.
2014-15 Equipment Allocations
Patrick
Should all funds be requested via proposal? Last year half of the dollars were given to the colleges and half were
held for proposals. Could require depts. to be up to date with assessment before awarding funds. Will bring this
back to the next meeting.
5.
Arranged courses and overload
Attachment 4
Patrick
Normally, faculty are not compensated for arranged courses. Policy has gone through Meet and Confer. Will include
this policy in faculty information to be shared at the beginning of the academic year.

DFW rates Attachment 11, 12

practices for reducing DWF rates.
9.
Education Master Schedule
Attachment 13
Jim Barta
Jim shared feedback from scheduling consultant about Prof Ed course schedule. Reinforced need for course
rotations and decisions to NOT offer some courses every semester, based on enrollments. Also suggested offering
courses in a similar time slot each semester may be helpful for consistency. Should this be shared at an academic
forum or with individual colleges first? Next steps – Jim will share the feedback with his chairs and will ask
consultant for his ideas of next departments or colleges to review; suggested SpEd or CAS.
10. Invitation: CAEL Training, Competency-based Education
Attachment 14
Martin
Criminal Justice is interested in attending the MnSCU workshop. Perhaps a faculty from TADT as well?
11. Fall Start-up agenda
Handout
Patrick

campus community members. Possibility of workshop on ‘teaching/working with students from diverse cultures’ to be
