“World Physiotherapy Day”
K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy, Karamsad, Anand District, Gujarat, India
celebrated “World Physiotherapy Day” on 8th September 2011. The theme
internationally is as decided by WCPT “Movement for Health”.
Physiotherapists are known as Movement and Exercise experts worldwide.
Physiotherapists maximizes people’s movement potential, promoting fitness and
identifying the limitations that prevent them from being as active and independent as
they might be.
K M Patel Institute of Physiotherapy celebrated this day in the following ways;
 Free physiotherapy treatment to all the patients in the physiotherapy
department of Shree Krishna Hospital.
 All the students participated in a rally organized by the institute in the
afternoon to increase the awareness of Physiotherapy in all the spheres of
health. The students held placards with various slogans and messages,
spreading vital role of a Physiotherapist keeping people well, mobile and
independent.
 The population of those above 80 years of age is growing the fastest worldwide and there will be more elderly in rural areas compared to urban areas
given that more young people are likely to migrate to urban areas. The
institute has embarked on a mission of “Active Aging”. The first step towards
this is to educate the public by displaying posters at every Primary Health
Care center in the 10 villages (out of 27 adopted by Charutar Arogya Mandal CAM) presently undertaken by institute for various health related activities.
