Provide a high quality Physiotherapy service in a variety of specialist areas,
working in both the main hospital across all wards, as well as providing
community rehabilitation to patients in their own homes and community
clinics. We work across a large spectrum of areas which are listed below.
The service treats a wide range of conditions: Acute and chronic
musculoskeletal limb and spinal pain/conditions, falls, dementia, COPD,
fractures, planned and traumatic orthopaedic surgery, abdominal / GI
surgery, stroke, learning disabilities, MI, paediatric developmental
neurological and orthopaedic conditions, amputees, Acquired Brain Injury,
Progressive neurological disorders eg MS.
0830 - 1630 ( Times may alter dependent on clinical area)
Physiotherapy uniform – white tunic / polo shirt, navy trousers, smart
trainers or black shoes

Will depend on Specialist area i.e. Orthopaedics, Acute, Rehabilitation,
Community, Musculoskeletal and Paediatrics. Students are encouraged to
contact the clinical educator prior to placement.

Abbreviations list can be found on Physiotherapy K drive for each specialist
area, Students will be made aware of this on initial contact
Specific learning opportunities
Will be dependent on the clinical area, these will be discussed with the
student at initial contact; but can include observing surgery, spending time
with specialist nurses etc.

Clinical specialities include Respiratory, Neurology, Stroke, Cardiology, Elderly
Care, Learning Difficulties, Adult Rehabilitation (Inpatient and Community)

peripheral)

Wide range of assessments, outcome measures, treatments used across all
caseloads/ specialities, students will have time to review these whilst on
placement.
