Jekyll Island Golf Club Announces “Be a Member in September” Promotion Contact Anna Hall 912.635.4046 ahall@jekyllisland.com It’s 63 holes, four courses and no price tag for an entire month on Jekyll Island. Throughout the month of September, the Jekyll Island Authority is holding the inaugural “Be a Member in September” campaign to give a free, month-long Jekyll Island Golf Club membership to all residents of Coastal Georgia. This honorary membership provides golfers the same privileges extended through a regular membership, which includes a member rate of $15.50 per round golf fee (including green fees), access to Member Clinics, a 10 percent discount on food from McCormick’s Grill, as well as discounted range tokens. “This is an excellent time for area golfers to see what it’s like to be a member of the prestigious Jekyll Island Golf Club,” said Rob Ellis, Director of Golf for the Jekyll Island Authority. “Jekyll Island has such a storied and rich history when it comes to golf. Playing on any of our four courses is an unforgettable experience.” The “Be a Member in September” campaign will kick-off Saturday, Sept.1, with a completely free day of golf for all area golfers. On that Saturday, Jekyll Island Golf Pros will be on hand to analyze golf swings, and green fees, cart fees and range fees will be waved, allowing golfers to play as many courses and as many holes as the day will allow. “The month-long campaign, as well as the free day of golf on Sept. 1, will give the public unprecedented access to our four great golf courses and clubhouse,” Ellis said. “We are very excited to show golfers the quality and caliber of our golf facilities. Whether you are new to the game or are an experienced player, we can accommodate you.” To reserve tee times or for more information, call the Pro Shop at 912.635.2368 or visit www.jekyllisland.com. Jekyll Island has the honor of featuring the state’s largest public golf course, and one of its most popular. Players of all skill levels are welcome on Jekyll Island greens, whether playing 18 holes, or simply working on your shot at the driving range and putting greens. Great Dunes This 9-hole course highlights the alternating simplicity and difficulty that only the "Old Man" Walter Travis could accomplish. This course is a direct ancestor of all modern American Ocean Links courses. Indian Mound Indian Mound, like Jekyll Island's other courses is free of both residential and commercial development, which allows you to relax and concentrate on your game. Oleander Considered the local favorite among Jekyll Island golf courses, the Oleander Course follows the Island's inland lakes and Pine forest. The original course layout dates to 1917 and was designed by Donald Ross. Pine Lakes The newest and longest course that was completely redesigned in 2002, Pine Lakes is a veritable masterpiece that meanders through ocean forests and undisturbed hammocks populated by migratory birds. ###
