2013 Regional Association Presentations Title: Ethics and Legislative Issues Presented by: Bobbie Kay Turkett Bobbie Kay is the TSHA Vice President for Social and Governmental Policy. She works in San Antonio for a mobile clinic doing MBS studies, in the home health setting and in a hospital. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. CEUs: 2.0 hours Objectives: As a result of this presentation, the participant will be able to complete the following: 1.) List the governing ethical principles for speech-language pathology and audiology. 2.) Explain how to navigate through ethical dilemmas that may occur within your profession in a professional manner. 3.) Discuss resources that may be utilized during ethical dilemmas principles as set forth by ASHA and the State Board of Examiners in Speech-Pathology and Audiology. 4.) Discuss the relationship between legislative issues and ethics. Summary: This two hour program will review the ethical principles that govern the practice of speech-language pathology and audiology. A review of the speech-language pathology and audiology licensure will be conducted. This presentation will provide the audience with an opportunity to explore the ethical decision making process. The presentation will also provide the audience with an overview of TSHA’s legislative activities and initiatives for the year.
