The Department is also responsible for fleet services, waste management and utilities. PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and operation of the Landfill. Job Duties and Tasks: 1. Providing site supervision. 2. Collecting fees, recording information for billing and reconciling billing and cash received each day, completing month end and annual summaries. 3. Inspecting loads and ensuring site safety. 4. Grade twelve education and the applicant must be bondable. Heavy equipment Landfill and Recycling Experience Customer Service Level 2B landfill certification Computers – Microsoft word Scale usage/programs Grade 12 or General Education Development Diploma required Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license Knowledge: Financial – Month End completion Operations – Scale and Landfill Equipment Customer Service and importance of keeping the site tidy and organized Computer usage - report generation using Microsoft Office Programs Scale Operations Regulatory – Landfill Approvals, Leachate Management, Surface Water Management Recycling – Knowledge of existing programs and operations Transfer station – knowledge transfer station operations and need for cleanliness Hazardous waste – capable of identifying and finding solutions Safety – for all site operations Skills and Abilities: Ability to work weekends and overtime Excellent customer service skills - interact with waste haulers, members of the public and coworkers and willingness to take direction and work with others to accomplish required job tasks Ability to operate heavy equipment Ability to undertake labor such as heaving lifting, sweeping, and shoveling Ability to use a computer Knowledge of proper techniques, safety precautions, and methods used in operation of heavy equipment would be an asset Knowledge of health and safety requirements for solid waste facility Ability to ensure all work related information is kept confidential as per policy and in accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Ability to ensure all work related information is kept confidential as per policy and in accordance with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
