So What Should Be Sorted to Landfill?
Hello [insert organization/club/group name],
With all this talk about proper sorting, it is good to know what is appropriate to go in the landfill
bin in addition to what can go into the different recycling containers located on campus.
There are actually fewer items than you think that are appropriate for the landfill bin.





Chip bags, granola wrappers, and any other food product bags or wrappers that are not
stretchy plastic film
Ketchup, mustard, and other individual condiment wrappers
Single-use hot cups (Remember you can separate the plastic lid and paper holder for
recycling!)
Soda cups that are waxed coated or poly-coated paper
All polystyrene, aka Styrofoam (Unfortunately that means the Berkey Creamery ice
cream and coffee cups.)
When possible, try to reduce your consumption of these items.
