The department is also responsible for fleet services, waste management and utilities. PURPOSE OF JOB: Supervise the regional landfill contract operations and all County landfills and transfer stations, including maintenance, adherence to regulations, etc.; supervises all phases of water supply, wastewater operations and maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collection, water wells and treatment systems; monitors all resource-related activities (drilling, pipeline, seismic and rig moves) and inspects and issues permits as necessary; inspects and enforces road damage repairs; liaises with resource companies and landowners as necessary. Job Duties and Tasks: 1. Construction Projects: Works with the Construction Manager and the Contractors on capital projects to ensure a smooth transition to the operation of the facility. Reviewed Date: October 2015 2. Landfills: Regional Landfill Manager/County Landfill Manager Oversees all Landfill operations from maintenance to ensuring environmental guidelines are being met. Ensures the contract operators are operating within the guidelines outlined in the agreement as well as to all environmental requirements. Supervises all staff and contract operators for the County landfills and transfer stations. Responsible for all reporting to Alberta Environment and ensures all sites are operated within the guidelines Oversees recycle programs As Regional Landfill Manager reports directly to the Regional Landfill Board 3. Water and Sewer Operations: Ensure safe drinking water for public by overseeing all testing and reporting as required by Alberta Environment Guidelines Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules On call in rotation except for scheduled vacations Supervises all employees of water and sewer operations. 4. Resources: Monitor all resource related activity in the county including drilling, pipeline, seismic and rig moves. Liaison between oil companies and landowners. Work closely with oilfield consultants and land agents to ensure all permits and agreements are in place and are abided by. Other related duties as required 5. Other related duties as required.
