Yet at the same time we are saying “where has the summer gone?” No matter where you are on the spectrum, school is starting in just a couple weeks. I know many of you were busy with family and friends. Others were just enjoying the time off. I am looking forward to this school year as I do each school year. There are many changes in store, but change is good! I hope you will take time to read this newsletter and then get on the computer and update your student’s information. Go Wolves School Fees Middle school fees are $38.00 to be paid online at www.mypaymentplus.com You will be able to use computers at school on registration day to pay your fees. We encourage everyone to pay their fees on line. Checks and/or cash will not be taken on registration day. If you have any questions regarding the school fees, please contact Mr. Kuri. If you need a new password or to reset your password go to www.worthington.k12.oh.us. Then go to login and click on parent account recovery. Infinite Campus is your way to stay in touch with your student’s academics and attendance. Please be sure to check it out on a regular basis. School Website Our school website is a great communication tool and enhances the overall educational experience for McCord students and their families! We hope that you will check the website continually for important updates related to the happenings at McCord Middle School. The website is also used to inform parents of daily and monthly happenings at McCord in a calendar format and provide links to helpful information. Student Emergency Information Online Process The mission of McCord Middle School is to educate and challenge emerging adolescents in a safe and nurturing community where individuals are valued and empowered to discover who they are and what they can contribute to others. For two years now the district has done away with the paper copies of the registration and emergency cards. This information must be updated each year. This year the update can be completed by going to www.worthington.k12.oh.us, login in, click on My Account in the dark bar across the top of the page, click on Emergency Data Review icon. Proceed through screens to review/update data. When complete, click submit. Please realize that having this information is vital for our school to have to ensure that we the safety of our students and that we can get in contact with parents. Thanks for your prompt attention to this area. Student Code of Conduct You will find the Student Code of Conduct on our website (www.worthington.k12.oh.us) under “Our School” Tab. Please take time to read this information and sign the paper titled “Student Code of Conduct Acceptance Slip” and return on August 10th. Shorts should extend to the mid-thigh Shorts/pants should be worn near or at the waist line Tops should cover the shoulders or midriff area. We require tops to cover all undergarments. Practice Respect Act Responsibly Choose to Be Involved Students who are dressed in a way that presents a health, safety, or educational distraction will be asked to change their clothing. Kindness to Others “For the strength of the pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the pack” School Hours The school day is 8:45 – 3:45. Students are not to be in the building before 8:30 unless they have an appointment with a staff member. Our schedule does not allow for staff supervision before school. Please be sure to make arrangements for this drop off time. Athletic Passes School Breakfast & Lunches Prices School Breakfast is served each day starting at 8:30: Full price breakfast w/milk: $1.60 Reduced: .30 Lunch periods are 4, 5 & 6 (see student schedule on August 10th) Full price Lunch w/milk: $3.00 Reduced: .40 Extra Milk: .50 We will again be offering both Wolves athletic passes and District athletic passes this year for all co-curricular events! The cost will be as follows: Adult Wolves Pass- $30.00 Student Wolves Pass- $10.00 Adult All District Pass- $100.00 Student All District Pass- $65.00 The passes will be distributed beginning August 19th. Page 4 of 4 School Newsletter Child Find Worthington Schools is responsible for locating any child birth to 21 with a suspected disability who resides within the Worthington School District. The school district provides special education services to any child who qualifies as disabled according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act ages 3 through 21 years of age. Suspected disabilities include: multiple disabilities, deafblind, hearing impairment, visual impairment, speech/language disability, orthopedic impairment, emotional disturbance, mental retardation, specific learning disability, autism, traumatic brain injury, other health impairment and developmental delay (preschool only). Parent Mentor Worthington Schools has a parent mentor on staff to assist parents of students who are referred for a special education evaluation or who are eligible for special education services.
