Community Services Presentation Friday August 19th Ripples 2010- Regional Centre of Culture Based on the European Capital Centre of Culture model-using arts and cultural activities to build community capacity and stimulate economic activity through a major injection of funding into arts and cultural activities and events and infrastructure. (eg. Town Hall and Gallery) The Ripples 2010 programme used various strategies to engage community. Major events, performances offered by State companies (Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, ADT) State based arts and cultural organisations hosting forums in MB and offering support services to community (History SA) Skills Development Workshops (particularly within the Aboriginal Community) Eg. Singing, painting, screen printing, ceramics, woodcarving Locally organised events and performances (eg. Bridge Players and Singers) Value adding to existing events (eg. NAIDOC week) Schools programmes (eg. Big Draw, Automata, Sharon Keep Ya Hair On) Exhibitions at the Murray Bridge Regional Gallery- both local and national profile artists The goal was to stimulate arts and cultural activity, offer opportunities to local artists and arts organisations and create new partnerships in the region that make future programmes sustainable.
