MONDAY 15TH TO SUNDAY 21ST APRIL 2013
The Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) fluctuated between latitude 12oN and
latitude 16.5oN in the western border of the country and between latitude 09.7oN
and latitude 12.6oN in the eastern border. Its mean positions in the western and
eastern borders are 14.2oN and 10.7oN respectively. The maximum temperature
ranged between 42oC at Sokoto (Yelwa) and 31oC at Jos. The minimum
temperature ranged between 27oC at Sokoto and 16oC at Jos. The relative
humidity ranged between 97% at Ilorin and 10% at Katsina. The highest rainfall
during the week was 80.6mm at Ilorin on the 15th of April 2013.
MONDAY (15TH): Widespread thundery activity was experienced in most parts
of the country except the extreme northern part. The highest rainfall was
80.6mm over Ilorin, followed by 66.2mm at Asaba, 46.0mm at Lagos Marine,
41.4mm at Minna, 40.2mm at Ondo, 38.8mm at Ado-Ekiti, 24.1mm at Lokoja,
23.6mm at Calabar, 22.2mm at Lafia, 13.9mm at Oshogbo, 4.4mm at Ijebu-Ode,
4.0mm Akure, 1.5mm at Ibadan and 0.4mm at Warri. The maximum
temperature ranged between 42oC at Sokoto (Yelwa) and 31oC at Jos.
TUESDAY (16TH): Fine weather conditions were experienced in most parts of
the country except Calabar, Abeokuta and Owerri that had 17.8mm, 1.3mm and
1.1mmm rainfall respectively. The maximum temperature ranged between 40oC
at Yelwa and 28oC at Ondo.
WEDNESDAY (17TH): Generally, fine weather conditions prevailed
throughout the country except Ondo that recorded 3.3mm rainfall. The
maximum temperature ranged between 38oC at Bida and 30oC at Portharcourt.
THURSDAY (18TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed in the extreme part of
the northern states. Thundery activity was experienced in parts of North Central
areas and the South. Portharcourt had 56.2mm, Jos 22.1mm, Lafia 12.8mm,
Ijebu-Ode 7.8mm, Oshogbo 6.6mm, Ado-Ekiti 0.5mm and Ondo 0.4mm
rainfall. The maximum temperature ranged between 39oC at Sokoto and 30oC at
Jos.
FRIDAY (19TH): Generally, Fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the
country except in the western parts where thunderstorms and showers were
experienced. Ado-Ekiti 50.5mm, Ondo 5.8mm, Oshogbo 8.0mm, Ijebu-ode
2.9mm, Lagos Marine 2.3mm, Iseyin and Abeokuta 1.4mm respectively. The
maximum temperature ranged between 40oC at Kano and 29oC at Jos.
SATURDAY (20TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the country
except Minna that experienced thunderstorm of 40.5mm rainfall, Kaduna
27.1mm, Ilorin 10.5mm, and Bida 2.5mm. The maximum temperature ranged
between 38oC at Kano (Yelwa) and 32oC at Benin City.
SUNDAY (21ST): Slight thundery activity was experienced in the country
especially in the western parts. Ado Ekiti had 11.4mm of rainfall, Oshogbo
10.4mm, Akure 4.4mm, Ijebu-Ode 3.3mm Iseyin 1.8mm, Ilorin 1.03mm, Ondo
1.2mm, Abeokuta 0.8mm, and Lafia 0.9mm. Maximum temperature ranged
between 37oC at Sokoto and 30oC at Lafia.
