MONDAY 12TH - SUNDAY 18TH MAY, 2014.
The Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) fluctuated between latitude 14.9oN and
latitude 16.2oN in the western border of the country and between latitude 11.0oN
and latitude 15.0oN in the eastern border. Its mean positions in the western and
eastern borders are 15.49oN and 12.23oN respectively. The maximum temperature
ranged between 41oC at Potiskum and 30oC at Jos. The minimum temperature
ranged between 27oC at Sokoto and 16oC at Jos. The relative humidity ranged
between 100% at Portharcourt and 22% at Katsina. The highest daily rainfall of
52.5mm was recorded at Portharcourt on the 13th May, 2014. Figures 1-7 are the
distribution maps of rainfall, horizontal visibility, highest temperature, lowest
temperature, highest and lowest relative humidity and temperature comfort level
in the week.
MONDAY (12TH): Generally, fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the
country except Oshogbo that reported 23.2mm of rainfall. The maximum
temperature ranged between 38oC at Katsina and 31oC at Ibadan.
TUESDAY (13TH): Thundery activity were experienced in some places across
the country. Portharcourt had 52.5mm of rainfall, Lafia 43.2mm, Ado-Ekiti
31.9mm, Gombe 23.0mm, Lokoja 21.5mm, Jos 10.7mm, Oshogbo 8.7mm, Enugu
4.3mm, Abuja 2.2mm and Iseyin 1.6mm. The maximum temperature was 40oC at
Potiskum and 28oC at Jos.
WEDNESDAY (14TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the
country, however Calabar, Yola and Iseyin experienced 38.0mm, 10.2mm and
1.5mm rainfall respectively. The maximum temperature ranged between 35oC at
Katsina and 29oC at Yola and Lafia.
THURSDAY (15TH): Thunderstorms affected some places across the country.
Portharcourt reported 34.3mm of rainfall, Oshogbo 21.8mm, Ijebu-Ode 9.7mm,
Ado-Ekiti 7.6mm, Makurdi 6.4mm, Lokoja 4.2mm, Iseyin 3.3mm, Ibadan
2.8mm, Enugu 2.5mm and Lafia 0.3mm. The maximum temperature ranged
between 37oC at Minna and 28oC at Portharcourt.
FRIDAY (16TH): Generally, fine weather conditions prevailed throughout the
country except Ijebu-Ode and Calabar that reported 12.5 mm and 10.2mm rainfall
respectively. The maximum temperature ranged between 39oC at Potiskum and
28oC at Jos.
SATURDAY (17TH): Generally, fine weather conditions were reported across the
country. The maximum temperature was 39oC at Katsina and 30oC at Jos.
SUNDAY (18TH): Fine weather conditions prevailed across the country. The
maximum temperature ranged between 41oC at Potiskum and 33oC at Ibadan,
Ijebu-Ode, Oshogbo, Ado-Ekiti and Portharcourt.
