-ALL GUESTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS MUST SIGN A RELEASE OF LIABILITY REGARDLESS IF THEY
INTEND TO RIDE OR NOT. NO EXCEPTIONS. MINORS MUST HAVE THE RELEASE SIGNED BY
PARENT OF LEGAL GARDIAN.
-STAR T RANCH IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY ACCIDENTS, DAMAGED OR STOLEN PROPERY.
-A helmet must be worn by anyone under the age of 18 at all times while mounted.
All riders who are jumping while mounted must wear a helmet regardless of age.
-No smoking in the barn. Take all cigarette butts home with you, they are not to be thrown anywhere on the property!
Dogs: Quiet, gentle dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. If there is any trouble, they will be asked to leave immediately. Dogs are not allowed in the arena or round pen while there are riders present. Please do not encourage our dogs to jump up on you or bark, as we have spent a lot of time teaching them not to do either.
-Parking is permitted anywhere on the gra vel drive, except directly in front of Kim and Jody’s house. It’s also okay on the grass in front of the barn on the left side. No parking on the grass anywhere else around the barn, or next to the wash rack.
-Hand Grazing: Grazing is permitted on the grassy areas across the driveway from the barn and around the arena. No grazing anywhere around the barn, wash rack, or close to Kim and Jody’s house.
In and around the barn:
-No playing or climbing on any gates, fences, or equipment.
-No running in the barn isle
-No person may be mounted on a horse inside the barn at any time for any reason.
-All manure, urine, hair and hoof pickings must be thoroughly cleaned off of the floor BEFORE going on to work your horse. Please put large amounts of hair in the trash can and manure in the wheel barrel outside of the barn door. Make sure your grooming supplies are out of the way while you’re out working your horse.
-Cross tying: All horses must be facing the tack room area, so that the isle is clear of horses in front of both tack rooms.
-Halters, bridles, etc. may never be left on the floor.
Boarder Tack Room: Please secure door with chain when open and close and lock after use.
-One saddle rack per horse boarded. Please be courteous, if there is a bridle already on a rack, please don’t put yours on top. If you’re tall, please use the higher racks.
-All grooming supplies, etc. must be kept together in a container. Loose items lying on the floor will be tossed out during regular cleanings by Star T staff.
-Floor space in the tack room must be passable at all times.
-ALL HORSE TREATS/FOOD ITEMS MUST BE STORED IN RODENT PROOF CONTAINERS AT ALL
TIMES! Any found not in appropriate containers will be thrown out by Star T staff.
-Treats or food of any kind may only be given to your own horse. Never feed any other horses.
Horses owned by Star T may never be fed treats unless being stretched for a lesson.
-Do not feed grain or hay unless it is your grain or hay or you have been instructed to do so.
-Stall boarded horses may have a tack trunk in front of the stall set under the blanket bar. Blanket bars are for use of the horse/ owner occupying that stall. Please ask that boarder if you need to borrow their rack. Please refrain from leaving you r stuff on someone else’s trunk.
*LAST PERSON OUT MUST TURN TACK ROOM LIGHT OFF, CLOSE AND LOCK DOOR. This is very important to be aware of. The security of everyone’s tack is in your hands!*
-Last person out at night is responsible for turning out the lights, closing and locking the gate if evening feeding has already been done and turning off the water (barn and wash rack).
Wash Rack:
-Do not leave the hose on the ground where the horses might walk on it.
-All manure and dirt must be thoroughly cleaned, under the mat too, before you finish. Manure must not be rinsed into the drain, pushed into the grass, or thrown into the drain outside the wash rack. Please spread any manure in or around the grass near the wash rack across the dive way. Do not through it in the driveway. If your horse “goes” in the driveway, please clean it up. Spread any manure if they go in the grass anywhere around the barn.
-Be sure to turn water off.
-If you use any of the hoses on the rollers, please leave the water on to roll it up. This prevents kinking which will ruin the hose. Drain the water after rolling up is complete.
Bathroom:
-Be sure light is off when finished.
-Be sure door actually latches when closing. When not latched, wind will catch it and rip it off. Pull back after closing, if the door won’t open it’s latched!
Arena / Round pen:
Covered Arena: If there is a lesson being conducted in the covered arena, only that lesson/person is allowed to ride at that time. In the event that the weather is wet for several days, there will be a schedule of times that the arena will be in use for lessons listed on our website. StarTRanchtx.net
-Gates must be closed at all times while in use.
-Be sure to secure chain on latch on the round pen gate when finished. When not latched, the wind can catch it and rip it off.
-If you move any poles, jumps, mounting block, etc. into the round pen, you must put everything back where you found it when finished.
-Jumps in the arena: You may change the height at anytime, (except when a lesson is being conducted). If you knock anything down, you must put it back up before leaving the arena. If you are removing the poles, jump cups must be removed when poles are not in them. During lessons, if you are riding at the same time, you must ask if jumping or longing will be okay before doing so.
-Lights: The arena lights use a lot of electricity. Please turn them off as soon as you are finished in the arena, unless someone else is using them.
-Noise Level: During a lesson please keep the noise level outside and round the arena to a minimum. Loud conversation is distracting while a lesson is being conducted. Loud running vehicles and headlight are also a distraction.
-No tying of horses is ever permitted to the panel fencing or gates in the arenas. Tying to the permanent pipe is okay. Never tie your horse up with the reins and bridle, halter and lead rope only. The rope should never be long enough for the horse to reach the ground, 18” is a good amount of rope length.
Lessons:
All riders must be appropriately dressed for riding. Appropriate Dress: boots with a heal, no sneakers, jeans or riding breeches are recommended, no baggy pants such as sweat pants, long hair MUST be pulled back, helmet. Helmets must be worn by anyone under the age of 18. All riders jumping must wear a helmet. ASTM approved helmets are strongly recommended for all riders to prevent head injury. Please be sure to check on the weather conditions so you can be comfortable. Warm coats, heavy socks, and gloves are great during colder weather. Lots of cold water is helpful during hot weather.
-Lesson times: If your lesson is scheduled to start at a given time, you need to be saddled and warmed up by that time. If you still need assistance getting ready, that time is considered lesson time.
-The amount of time allotted for a lesson is 45-60 min. Private jumping lessons will be closer to 45min.
-If you have a weekly standing lesson or have scheduled a lesson and cannot be here for that lesson, you must give 24hr. notice. If you do not you will be charged $25. Excessive cancelations will be grounds for loosing that time slot.
Hauling/Trailer Use: Use of the tack room in the horse trailer when going to shows is a privilege. All grooming supplies etc. must be against the wall and out of the way at all times. Nothing may ever be thrown on the floor to block the isle way. No hay is to be placed inside of the tack room. All tack and hay nets must be removed
ASAP after returning home from an event. ALL TRASH MUST ASO BE REMOVED! While at a show, having your own water bucket, saddle rack, rags, medical emergency supplies is recommended.
Horse Health: Each owner is responsible for the overall care of the horse. Star T is only responsible for the daily feeding, watering, turn out, and notifying owner if there is an issue.
-If your horse gets to the point where euthanasia is a possibility, it may only be done by a vet if to be done anywhere on the premises. The owner is also responsible for the timely removal from the premises. We have names and phone numbers for this type of service.
-Annual Coggins, vaccinations, and regular worming (every 3 mon. or daily) are all required for any horse residing here. Regular hoof and teeth care is recommended.
Discrepancies: Will be resolved in the steps listed below:
1. Make appointment
2. Have meeting
3. Discuss issue
4. Resolve issue for both parties
Suggestions: May be placed in the black mailbox in the barn isle.
Children must be attended at all times.
