Florida Baptist Children’s Homes is seeking to employ a Lakeland based Director of Human

Resources for its Headquarters office. The primary responsibility of the Director of Human

Resources is to provide leadership, development, and carry out the daily duties of all human resource functions for Florida Baptist Children’s Homes and its supporting entities. The

Director of Human Resources is expected to be knowledgeable in all related legal and regulatory issues and to make recommendations to the VP of Finance & Administration regarding the application of these polices. The Director of Human Resources will also be responsible for developing and maintaining personnel policies and procedures for the agency including recruitment and orientation of staff, in addition to the daily tasks of payroll and file maintenance.

Applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field. Previous experience in institutional human resources is desired, with at least three years in management/leadership.

Florida Baptist Children’s Homes is an integral institution of the Florida Baptist Convention in cooperation with Southern Baptist churches in Florida. Preferential consideration in employment will be given to those persons who are members in good standing with a local

Basic Functions:

This is a full time position where the primary responsibility is to provide leadership, development, and carry out the daily duties of all human resource functions for Florida Baptist

Children’s Homes and its supporting entities. The Director of Human Resources is expected to be knowledgeable in all related legal and regulatory issues and to make recommendations to the

V.P. of Finance & Administration regarding the application of these polices. The Director of

Human Resources will also be responsible for developing and maintaining personnel policies and procedures for the agency including recruitment and orientation of staff, in addition to the daily tasks of payroll and file maintenance.

Basic Responsibilities:

1.

Maintain and conduct all matters in a highly confidential manner.

2.

Promotes equality and respect for and appreciation of diversity as a part of the Florida

Baptist Children’s Homes organizational culture.

3.

Leads the agency’s Human Resources function. At times this will entail carrying out duties including: o Processing payroll o New hire administration, including ensuring that procedures are followed and standards are met consistently across all locations. o Coordinating with agency leadership to create and maintain job descriptions. o Ensure proper and timely maintenance of personnel files for the state office and limited files for other staff. o Audits personnel files for completeness and accuracy. o Provides regular reports to leadership regarding the agency’s human resources. o Coordinates with agency leadership to ensure that their HR-related duties are performed accurately and timely. o Coordinate benefits for agency staff (health, dental, vision, cafeteria plan, disability, retirement, life, workers’ compensation, wellness program), and oversees related administration and reporting. o Advises and works with other agency leaders in addressing individual and corporate staff training needs.

Oversees, maintains and assists agency leaders in developing and carrying out grievance procedures. Counsels and assists with disciplinary issues.

5.

Coordinates with agency leaders on staffing strategy and recruiting.

6.

Develops and oversees an FBCH-wide staff and peer evaluation program.

7.

Provides oversight to campuses in regards to FMLA requests.

8.

As needed, counsels and assists agency leadership in legal matters and litigation proceedings related to Human Resources.

Perform other duties as assigned by V.P. – Finance & Administration.

II Education and Experience

A. Formal Education Required

Bachelor’s degree (in Human Resource Management, Business, etc. preferred).

2.

Willingness to take short-term special training in human resources, business or allied field.

3.

Desire to do additional systematic self-study to upgrade knowledge skills in the human resource field.

B. Experience Desired

4.

Previous experience in institutional human resources including at least three years in management/leadership.

5.

Knowledge of and experience in benefits administration under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
