TEAM HURRICANES
Dear Sixth Grade Student,
Welcome to the Hershey Middle School and Team Hurricanes! Hopefully, you have
enjoyed your summer vacation and are ready to embark on the challenge of learning, which
will prove to be an exciting sixth grade year!
In addition to you, our team consists of approximately 95 other sixth graders and
four team teachers: Mrs. Delaney, Science, room G14; Miss Hayman, Communication Arts,
room G11; Mr. Ogle, Math, room G13; and Mrs. Umberger, Social Studies, room G10. Visit

day you will have a foreign language or reading class. Encore classes include Art, Music,
Physical Education, Health, Computer, and Family Consumer Sciences.
As you ready yourself for the first day of school, here is a list of things that would be
helpful for sixth grade:
→Communication Arts—a white 1” three ring binder with pockets and 1 subject
spiral notebook
→Math—a red 1” three-ring binder with pockets and 1 subject spiral notebook
→Science—nothing needed; you will be using technology
→Social Studies—a blue 1” three-ring binder
Also consider purchasing the following: pencil pouch, lined notebook paper,
pencils, pens, highlighters, and erasers. The school will provide an assignment book.
A couple of activities that you have to look forward to this year are our
outdoor education program (D.E.E.R.) and an excursion to Milton Hershey School to tour
their facilities.
We are very excited about the new school year and are anxious to meet you! We will
be in our homeroom for a couple of hours the first day of school to go over the schedule
and general procedures. We will spend time touring the building and practicing opening
lockers.

successful school year!
