AVP of Membership
Overview
Under the direction of the VP of Membership, the AVP of Membership is responsible for planning,
organizing, leading, and coordinating resources and activities that support Greater Boston Chapter (“the
Chapter”) membership operations. Key membership activities include communications, membership
growth and retention, membership benefits, membership enrollment, event registration, customer
satisfaction, process management, and reporting.
The AVP of Membership works collaboratively with all positions in the GBC Board to ensure
 growth and sustainability through the active engagement of Chapter members
 continued financial health of the Chapter through transparent reporting of membership events
revenue
 efficient operation of the Chapter through robust internal processes; and
 innovation and learning through professional and social networking opportunities.
Responsibilities
GBC Membership operations include, but are not limited to the following:
 Membership enrollment
 New member orientation
 Official membership list management
 Membership benefits
 Membership campaign management
 Membership-centric messaging through GBC online newsletter, website, and e-mail
communications channels
 Membership status communication (compliance, expiration)
 Membership outreach (e.g., special notices, volunteer opportunities)
 Event registration vetting
 Event attendance tracking
 Event quality surveys
 Membership tracking and reporting
 Membership Committee management
 Membership policy, process, and procedure development
Qualifications
Required
 Member in good standing of the Greater Boston Chapter
 Direct managerial experience including recruiting, managing, assigning tasks, and issue
management
 Excellent organization, planning, and managerial skills
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Must possess enthusiasm and ability to promote Chapter events, improve operations and increase
membership
 Ability to handle high pressure situations
Nice to Have
 Business analysis experience or CBAP, CCAB certification
 Project management experience or PMP certification
 Nonprofit business experience or MBA

Reports To: VP Membership
Fiduciary Responsibility: Assists in setting budgets for membership activities; manages to an approved
budget
Supervisory Responsibility: Recruiting and managing Membership Committee members
Length of Term: Minimum of one program year, renewable annually
Time Commitment: 10 – 15 hours per month, incl. attendance at GBC events and Membership
Committee meetings

deliverables and perform tasks that support membership operations. Key membership activities include
communications, membership growth and retention, membership benefits, membership enrollment, event
