Principals Newsletter

Buses
Please note: Prior notice must be given to the school and drivers before students can be an
additional rider on a bus. Drivers must be notified at least one day in advance if a child is
accompanying another student who regularly rides the bus. In most cases, students are allowed to
ride the bus providing space is available, the driver has been notified and weather conditions are
favourable. Please follow this procedure if you need your child to ride the bus on a specified
day.
Twitter
For those who do not know, our school has a twitter account. Why follow our school on Twitter
you may say? Basically, Twitter is a communication tool where short messages (140 characters
or less) can be posted. News items from our school, announcements, activity results, can all be
posted to update parents. Twitter can be accessed from phones, iPods and computers and
accounts are free.
To sign up for a free account, go to www.twitter.com. Then follow the simple sign-up
procedure. You can set your privacy settings and options once your account is set up. Then to
follow our school, add @montsaskschool to your followers and you are set.
Parents and community members can also access information on our website.
http://montmartre.pvsd.ca We will have a new website including page layouts and format in the
coming months.
**NEW** Montmartre School also has a YouTube Channel. You can view our new channel at
http://www.youtube.com/user/montmartreschool . New videos will be added during the school
year, to showcase our school and to help keep parents informed.
Badminton
Congratulations to our senior and junior badminton teams for their efforts and contributions to
this activity. Once again the effort put forth achieved positive results for our students. A couple
examples include Hayley Michael and Wilson Fink, for winning districts, and qualifying for the
regional playoff in Yorkton, as well as Kelly Tholl finishing third in her pool at the junior
districts. For the 2nd consecutive year, Keenan Tholl won the boy’s singles’ title at district
playoffs. Congratulations to all for their effort and dedication.
Stepping Stones Career Fair
On May 4th, all grade 10 students in PVSD travelled to Regina for the Stepping Stones Career
Fair. Students were able to visit various booths and investigate specific careers that were of
interest to them.
PVSD Parent Handbook Meetings
Accompanying this newsletter (gr. 8-12 students only), is the new parent’s career handbook
published by our school division. This document contains a lot of specific information that will
help answer parents’ questions regarding careers, post-secondary education and financial
supports. Please ensure you review this document and discuss any specifics with your child. If
you have questions, Mrs. Edgar’s information is listed below.
Meetings that will discuss this handbook are located across the division. Dates and times of
locations were sent home previously with students in grades 8-12. The meetings taking place in
Kipling and Indian Head are on May 18th and June 1st respectively.

May 26th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. New parents, new and current K students will interact in
various activities, with parents receiving information about Kindergarten next year. Please bring
