To: All Business and Residents of Elm Street, Toronto Ontario Re: Ice, Wine & Dine Event This letter is to inform you of the 6th annual Ice, Wine & Dine event that the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area will be holding. Event details are as follows: WHEN: Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 3:00pm to 10:00pm WHERE: Elm Street between Yonge Street and Bay Street PARTIAL ROAD CLOSURE: We will be applying for a permit to close Elm Street from 6am to midnight on the day of the event. Details below: - from Yonge Street to Eaton Chelsea entrance (22 Elm), both directions closed to vehicular traffic. from 31 Elm Street going west to Bay Street, partial road closure - south curb lane. This will allow vehicular access to Eaton Chelsea and 38 Elm tower. North curb lane will serve as the emergency access. No structure will be built on this lane. See attached map for reference. SECURITY: We will have security guards onsite for the duration of the event, as well as at least two paid duty police officers. Security will ensure only people of legal drinking age will be admitted at the Martini Lounge and Wine Bar. HEALTH & SAFETY: Many restaurants selling food outdoors will have a tent set-up on their existing patios to do this. All food will be prepared inside their establishment. We will be supplying additional garbage bins along Elm Street, as well as two members from our Clean Streets Team for the evening. FIRE: We will have a fire performer and fire pits at this event. We will be maintaining an 8’ radius around the performer. The fire pits will enhance urban experience. There will be a fire safety person on site for the duration of the event who will have a fire extinguisher on-hand. No staging will be built for this. There will be interactive ice sculptures and other festive walk-around characters.
