Lunch and Breakfast at South Lyon
Elementary Schools
The Food Service Department welcomes you and your student to South Lyon Schools. Food
Service offers breakfast and lunch daily in each building. We realize that choosing a meal and
eating in the cafeteria can be frightening for new students. The food service staff and parent
volunteers help make this easier for the children by helping them through the lunch line.
Cycle menus are sent home with students in September and February and are also posted on
the district website. We suggest you prepay for your child’s meals online through Skyward
Family Access or with a check made payable to South Lyon Community Schools. We use a
debit system to track purchases and payments made in the Food Service Department.
Parents are also able to track purchases and view current account balance through Skyward
Family Access. Your child will be given a 5 digit Personal Identification Number to use for food
and beverage purchases.
The Food Service Department looks forward to serving your student this year. We believe that
good nutrition supports learning and offer high quality, nutritious meals to all students.
As breakfast is the most important meal of the day, we offer a hot breakfast everyday as well
as a grab ‘n go option that children can eat in the classroom.
A complete lunch includes choice of main entree, vegetable, fruit and milk. We offer a variety
of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grain rich breads.
Fat free white and chocolate milk are offered at breakfast and lunch.
If you feel you income may qualify your child for a free or reduced breakfast and lunch, please
fill out an application. Free/Reduced Price Meal Applications are available in each school
office or on the district website. The forms are also available to submit electronically through
Family Access.
