Paul Murphy Consultant in Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Dr Paul Murphy trained in Cambridge, Bristol and Leeds. He is currently a Consultant in Neuroanaesthesia and Critical Care at the Leeds General Infirmary, where he is directly involved in the care of potential organ donors and their families. He was a member of the Organ Donation Taskforce, and was subsequently seconded to NHS Blood and Transplant as National Clinical Lead for Organ Donation. In this position he led the introduction of Clinical Leads for Organ Donation and Donation Committees into acute hospital Trusts and Health Boards around the UK. He has lectured around the world on various topics related to organ donation and transplantation, and has also published extensively on the topic. He attends the UK Donation Ethics Committee and is currently closely involved in the development of a new strategy for donation and transplantation in the UK. He has recently been awarded the Dudley Buxton medal by the Royal College of Anaesthetists in recognition of his contribution to organ donation in the UK.
