report and Suzanne Hedlund seconded. Motion passed.
President
Mary Farley introduced Jenny Schroeder from the city of Kirkland. She reviewed the plan for
ARC. Indoor pool 32 meter by 25 yards deep enough for diving, fun features for family and
warm temperature pool for exercise and therapy. One gymnasium in the current plan, although
they would like two if a site is available. Large community room, reception guest services, social
area, café, and a daycare are a few of the amenities they are hoping to include. The facility
would be multiple-level and house the current programs at the North Kirkland Community
Center. Final two locations are North Kirkland Community Center and Juanita Beach Park.
Costs reduced at Juanita Beach because no parking structure is needed. Committee focused on
the importance that this structure needs to be able to pay for itself over time. They are also
considering privately owned land as a possible building site. Park board will review March 11th
and review whether or not they should move forward. Www.kirklandarc.publicmeeting.info will
give a virtual tour of the site. Baseball fields would focus on using under-utilized spaces and
share the costs with the school districts which would benefit both. Traffic assessments were done
at all locations and are available online.
Mary reported that we need to start forming our scholarship committee. Katrina Michel, Patty
O’Rourke and Pam Zackula and Amy Mikkelson offered to help.
Mary reported that all information for the auction is available. Mary shared information needed
about what is generally donated from each team. Tickets to events, art and baskets generally sell
well.
