To All Owners with Mares in the Vicinity of Burley Mill Lawn, Burley Rocks and

Stallion Licensing - Pondhead Bracken
Owing to the breeding supplied by the breeders at the time of registration being proven
incorrect by DNA sire verification, Pondhead Bracken (who ran at Mill Lawn/Burley Rocks
from 11 May 2015 to 2 June 2015) has been moved to the part-bred section of the stud
book.
The consequence of this will be that any pure-bred mares that have been covered by this
stallion will not have foals eligible for registration in section A of the stud book. Any
resulting foals will be eligible for the part-bred record only.
In order to prevent this situation from occurring in the future, all colts will now not be
considered fully licensed until the DNA profile has been analysed and returned and the
breeding given at time of registration, has been fully verified. When this has happened the
colt will then be issued with a breeding licence and number. It will then have stallion status
and be licensed to cover until due its five-year-old veterinary examination.
No colt will be allowed to cover until this procedure has been correctly completed.
The Futurity colts will now also have to have their breeding verified at the time of
acceptance into the scheme. The colts that are in the scheme at present will be tested as
soon as possible. Should there be any anomalies with the DNA that show the colt is not
bred as registered, it will be removed from the scheme immediately.
