Clarkston School District Immunization Services Questions & Answers Questions: Who will be eligible to receive vaccines? Who will provide the vaccines? How much does the vaccine cost? Who will bill students and families for immunization services? Where will immunization clinics be held? How will immunization clinics be staffed? How will vaccine administration be documented? How will vaccine information be documented in the school record? _____________________________________________________________________________________ Who will be eligible to receive vaccines? Students enrolled in the Clarkston School District will be eligible for vaccines. (The exception may be students enrolled at the Educational Opportunity Center who do not meet the age criteria for VFC vaccine.) Infants and toddlers will not be vaccinated. Adults will not be vaccinated. They will be referred to appropriate community services. Who will provide the vaccines? Vaccines will be received from the Vaccine for Children (VFC) Program. VFC vaccine is state-supplied, publicly-funded vaccine. Receipt of VFC vaccine is coordinated through the Washington State Department of Health (WA-DOH) and local public health. How much does the vaccine cost? VFC vaccine is state-supplied, publicly-funded vaccine. It is available to all children of Washington State at no cost. Professionals administering VFC vaccine may charge certain administrative fees. Private insurances and Medicaid will be accepted. However if recipients of vaccine are unable to pay the administrative fee, Clarkston School District Immunization Services Questions & Answers the vaccine will be offered at no charge in accordance with VFC requirements. At the time of service, students and their families will be asked for insurance and billing information. If they are unable to provide the information, they will still receive immunization services. Who will bill students and families for immunization services? Asotin County Health District (ACHD) will provide Clarkston School District (CSD) with necessary forms for collecting insurance and billing information. All completed forms will be returned to ACHD for electronic billing. Any questions and/or concerns related to billing will be directed to ACHD. Where will immunization clinics be held? Immunization clinics will be held at various schools and/or the Central Office. Clinics will be coordinated with building administrators and/or parent advocates. They will be scheduled during hours which best meet the needs of families. How will immunization clinics be staffed? CSD Health Services will provide staff for immunization clinics. Registered Nurses will be utilized to administer vaccines (Washington State Nurse Practice Act requires a licensed person to puncture skin.) Health Support staff may assist with paperwork and recordkeeping. How will vaccine administration be documented? Immunization administration will be documented in the Washington State Immunization Information System (WSIIS). This online registry was previously known as Child Profile. This documentation system is fully compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Health Services staff have access to the registry already. How will vaccine information be documented in the school record? Parents and/or guardians will be asked for written consent to enter medical records (protected by HIPAA Law) into school records.
