Oncology Services Oncology Services at BMI The Princess Margaret Hospital BMI The Princess Margaret Hospital is one of the leading private acute general hospitals in the Berkshire area, situated in Windsor. The hospital has 78 beds with all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, satellite TV and telephone. It has 4 operating theatres, a modern endoscopy suite with minor theatre, 2 high dependency beds and a pharmacy on-site. The hospital also has an imaging department with a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner and 64 slice CT scanner. We also have a physiotherapy and pathology department. Our Cancer Care Service specialises in Chemotherapy, and it is here for anyone affected by cancer. Our oncology department, the Kensington suite, is a day care unit, but we are able to offer 24 hour care. The Kensington Suite also houses our oncology consulting room, which is used by our Oncologists and Haematologists to see their patients and for outpatient clinics. Treatments At BMI The Princess Margaret Hospital, we offer cancer patients holistic treatment including chemotherapy. The type of chemotherapy treatment given will be based on an individual basis. Scalp Cooling BMI The Princess Margaret Hospital is able to offer Scalp Cooling. At the hospital we use the Paxman hair loss prevention system. We have four machines available for patients. We will arrange consultations and treatment around the patient, to lessen the disruption coming to hospital may cause them. And if they need tests, the results will usually be available within a few days – rather than the 2 week turn around on the NHS which gives your patient piece of mind sooner. Pharmacy Our hospital has an on-site Pharmacy which works closely with the oncology team to provide an efficient service. The service also provides all necessary information for treatment, including the take home medication. They are available to answer questions and provide support for patients regarding their drug therapy. How to access A GP or consultant referral is essential. All the professionals involved in the clinic have had special training in caring for people with breast problems. The clinical team consists of consultant breast surgeons, consultant radiologists and breast care nurses, who all provide a personal service within a modern, well-equipped facility.
