The policy also covers other activities arranged by the school or facility as approved by the principal, such as field trips and practical occupational experience (PRAO). Terms of the policy Personal accident Policy no. 2810893 LUND MUNICIPALITY policy STID 1 May 2015 – 31 December 2015 In the case of schoolwork, compensation may be paid for additional expenses in connection with travel between home and place of employment or school. COMPENSATION FOR DEATH Compensation is paid if the accident led to the death of the policyholder within three years. Compensation is paid for policyholders who were younger than 25 at the time of the accident, regardless of the cause. CLOTHING AND EYEGLASSES, ETC. If the accident required a medical or dental appointments compensation is paid for clothing, helmets, eyeglasses, hearing aids and other medical devices worn at the time of the accident. Compensation is paid for any expenses associated with repair of damaged clothing, eyeglasses, etc. SCAR COMPENSATION Compensation is paid per the table no earlier than one year after the accident. Compensation is paid only if the accident required medical treatment. PAIN AND SUFFERING Compensation is paid if the period of acute illness exceeded 30 days. MEDICAL DEVICE COMPENSATION Compensation may be paid in connection with expenses not covered elsewhere for medical devices that a doctor has prescribed and that can relieve the symptoms of disability after an accident. Länsförsäkringar must approve the expenses in advance. MEDICAL REHABILITATION Compensation may be paid for services prescribed by a doctor for the purpose of promoting return to work or studies. Double coverage If the policyholder is covered by multiple municipal personal accident policies with Länsförsäkringar, compensation is paid by only one of them. Compensation is paid by the policy that is most advantageous to the policyholder. VALIDITY OF A CLAIM Compensation is paid only if the policyholder: •• promptly saw or made an appointment with a doctor or dentist •• notified us by calling 040-633 80 00 or writing to skador.skane@lansforsakringar.se olycksfall_LUNDS KOMMUN_141208 Information for parents Public insurance is often insufficient if your child has a serious health problem. The municipal personal accident policy covers accidents only. Illness is the most common cause of childhood disability. Municipal insurance does not cover such situations. Obtain additional coverage with our policy “A Good Start – “Child Insurance.” It is the biggest favour you can do for your child. Call the office nearest you and we will tell you more about it. WHERE IS THE POLICY IN FORCE? The policy is in force around the world. But keep in mind that it is not a travel policy. If you travel outside the Nordic countries, you will need a separate travel policy that covers healthcare expenses abroad and expenses for being brought back home in the case of illness or accident. TERMS OF THE POLICY This insurance statement describes the policy only briefly. Claims settlement is based on the terms of the agreement between Lund Municipality and Länsförsäkringar Skåne. INJURY FROM AN ACCIDENT An injury from an accident is a physical injury that you sustain involuntarily due to a sudden external event. The injury may be caused by frostbite, heat, sunstroke, total rupture of the Achilles tendon, twisted knee, infection due to a tick bite, etc. INFECTION The policy covers infection with HIV, as well as hepatitis B and C, as a direct result of an accident. CRISIS INSURANCE Compensation is paid if you experience an acute psychological crisis due to •• serious accident •• assault, threat, robber or rape (a report to the police is required) Compensation is paid for reasonable expenses associated with up to 10 sessions with a licensed psychologist, psychotherapist or other trained counsellor. Länsförsäkringar must recommend or approve the therapy. The policy does not cover psychological problems due to bullying. DISABILITY DUE TO AN ACCIDENT Medical disability refers to permanent impairment of physical function. Financial disability refers to at least 50% permanent reduction of work capacity. HEALING, DENTAL AND TRAVEL EXPENSES Compensation is paid for reasonable, necessary expenses associated with care or treatment prescribed by a doctor to heal the injury. Compensation for dental injury is paid to cover expenses that Länsförsäkringar Skåne has approved in advance. Compensation is also paid for necessary emergency treatment without advance notice. Dental injury due to chewing or biting is not covered. Compensation is paid for necessary travel to obtain care or treatment. If the doctor orders that you take special means of transportation while receiving medical treatment, to do your job or to perform your schoolwork, compensation may be paid for additional expenses associated with travel to and from home.
