NEWS UPDATES….. From the desk of Lynn Dougherty PARCC UPDATE….Grade 3 and 4 will begin the PARCC assessment on Monday, March 23. The testing will begin at 9:15 each morning and end at approximately 11:30. Students will be having an early snack before testing so please be sure to pack an extra snack for your student. The testing schedule will run Monday, Tuesday (MATH), Thursday, Friday and Monday, March 30 (ELA). HOW YOU CAN HELP It will be extremely important for your child to have a healthy breakfast and to be in school on time. Once testing begins, no one is allowed to enter the testing session thus the session will need to be made up at another time causing him/her to miss another part of the instructional day. Unless your child is ill, please make every effort to have your child in school and on time. March 18, 2015 Routines and sleep will be important for your child’s stamina throughout the testing window. Please help your child stick to a schedule that will support the rigor of the 5 day assessment window. Encourage your child to do his/her best even when the work is challenging. In every grade students are working hard to show what they know and this assessment is another way for your learner to shine. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION…. As a friendly reminder, there is a very specific drop off procedure in place in order to safely and efficiently drop off your students each and every day. All families who drop off students should pull in to the top of the parking lot and wait with your child until your car gets to the front of the car line. When you get to the front of the car line, a parking lot attendant is there to greet your child(ren) and safely cross them into the building. We STRONGLY DISCOURAGE anyone from parking their car and walking children into school. As you know and experience daily, the parking lot is very congested. The most efficient and safe way to drop off your child is by using this effective and time saving procedure. If for some reason you must park your car and walk your child in, ONLY park in designated parking areas. Parking in prohibited/lined or “coned off” areas creates congestions and is a serious safety issue. Your cooperation is appreciated in this ongoing safety matter.
