Quote Card
“By necessity, by proclivity, and by delight, we all quote.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Your first homework assignment of the school year is to help decorate our classroom with a quote that you enjoy!
Directions:




Find a quote that you enjoy because you think it is meaningful, inspirational, funny, and/or interesting. You may find quotes using
the internet, books, or even from family members. Remember to include the name of the person who said the quote. If you do not
know, write anonymous.
Neatly print or type the quote on one side of the index card and decorate the card with an artistic representation of the quote. Your
artistic representation must be hand-drawn and must be in color. You do not need to be an artist, but effort should be evident.
On the back on the index card (lined side), write a 5-7 sentence paragraph explaining why you chose your quote. Be specific and
descriptive!
Use proper grammar (Complete sentences, capitalization, punctuation, spelling, etc.).
**This is one of your first graded homework assignments in Language Arts. Let’s start the year off right – demonstrate your best effort and
turn it in on time. **
