Year 7 Ancient Egypt Assessment Task – Oral Presentation
Group One: Life in Ancient Egypt
Your group’s challenge is to put together an oral presentation on ‘The Great Pyramid of Khufu’’ for
the rest of your class. Your must cover the following topics in your presentation.




The importance of the River Nile
Daily life and housing
Jobs and working conditions
Hierarchy and Pharaoh Rules
Please look at the specific detailed tasks or questions below. Your team must cover them in your
presentation. Make sure that all work is presented neatly and includes a wide range of images and
acknowledges sources that have been researched. Your team will receive a group grade for this
assessment task so make sure that everyone is sharing the responsibility of the task and cooperating
as a team.

Outline the topic that your group is presenting and what it is that the audience will be learning about
today.
The importance of the River Nile
Outline the location of River Nile and major settlements and kingdoms in Ancient Egypt.
Explain why the River Nile was so important and how people used the river in their daily lives.
Daily life and housing
Style/quality of housing for rich compared to poor
Jobs and working conditions
Describe the range of jobs and roles that Ancient Egyptian people had in society and explain some of
the working conditions for these people.
Hierarchy and Pharaoh Rules
Identify the structure hierarchy for the different members of Ancient Egyptian society.
Describe some of the rules did the pharaoh have and what were the reasons for these rules
Identify pharaohs who changed rules, what changes did they make and why, how was it received by
the public
Presentation
Present all display work neatly and make sure that you are all speaking clearly to the class.

Include a wide range of images or other materials to interest and engage your audience.
Bibliography
Acknowledge all sources of research used in your presentation.
