The Cahill Career Development Center prepares students and alumni to be competitive in a dynamic, global society through targeted career programs, individualized services, employer networking and community partnerships.

Cahill Career Development Center Responsibilities Related to Faculty

Cooperative Education

Academic program in which eligible students apply classroom learning to internship positions related to their academic major or career goals. By working in various industries, students gain hands-on experience as they earn a salary and academic credit towards a degree

Interact with faculty regarding assigned students and learning agreements

Faculty invited to orientation and reflection sessions conducted each semester

Faculty encouraged to share contacts for possible student co-op positions; Co-op advisors follow up on all leads

The Center provides support to faculty during co-op process

Class Presentations

First Year Seminar and classroom presentations to introduce provided support for all career topics including: o CAREER ADVISEMENT: Individual appointments are available with a career advisor to clarify career objectives, choose a major, and individualize a “Four Year Plan” which helps identify academic and career goals. Advisors provide guidance for students to organize a job search and discuss post-graduation plans o RESUME CRITIQUE SERVICES: Individual appointments are scheduled. Users upload their resumes to the Archway, receive feedback/approvals from career advisors o MOCK INTERVIEWS: Each semester members of The Society of Human Resource Management volunteer to conduct practice interviews for graduating seniors. “Interview Stream” provides online practice with major and industry based questions. Feedback is provided to help improve interviewing and networking skills o WORKSHOPS/PANELS/SEMINARS: held for the campus community or individually designed for clubs, organizations, and majors. Sample topics include: choosing a major, identifying career options, resume writing, international opportunities o COOPERATIVE EDUCATION o ARCHWAY JOB BANK: Employers post internships, full-time, part-time job listings online exclusively for Ramapo College students and alumni o RAMAPO ALUMNI MENTORING PROGRAM (RAMP): The Cahill Center, in partnership with the

Office of Alumni Relations, links undergraduates with Ramapo alumni in various career fields.

Alumni, sharing their experience and expertise, offer advice on potential career fields, job entry requirements, professional development and career advancement o STUDENT ASSISTANT PROGRAM: offers students the opportunity to work on campus in a variety of paid positions. The program matches both Federal Work-Study students and student aides with college programs and offices needing their talents and skills

Employers in Residence

In collaboration with Cahill advisors, employers are featured as guest speakers in classrooms to discuss career opportunities in various field and industries
