Menomonee Falls Historical Society Newsletter March 2014 From the President Greetings from sunny, warm Arizona! I shouldn't begin with that statement because I know what the Wisconsin winter has been like. Spring has to come -- soon. Since we do not have someone to prepare the newsletter, I will cover this month. If you would like to work with the newsletter, please let me know. I will do the best I can. Also, if you would like something in the May newsletter, please let me know. What is coming in 2014? In Touch with History and Old Falls Village Days will be coming soon. In Touch with History will take place on May 31. If you help out, please arrive at 7:45 a.m. so we can designate where everyone can serve. This is a fun filled day spent teaching the younger generation about life as it used to be. Old Falls Village Days takes place on Saturday and Sunday, June 1 & 2. We will need MANY volunteers. If you can help, contact Chris Schultz or Marilyn Schneider, or let them know where you can serve when they call. Civil War Encampment Our Civil War Encampment will take place on Saturday and Sunday, July 19 & 20. This is always a highlight event, and we will need many volunteers. We need as many members of the Society we can get! Artist's Ride Once again we will host an Artist's Ride Friday and Saturday, September 19 & 20. We will need volunteers to assist with this event. While our campus is closed to the public, our society members can see the unique experience take place. Artists from aroundthe country come and take pictures of unique settings throughout our campus. Halloween Our Halloween event for area families is a highlight. It takes a lot of planning and a lot of people. It is an event that is loved by area families and grows with each year. We will plan for Friday and Saturday, October 24 & 25. Silver Tea Our annual Christmas Tea will take place on Sunday, December 7. This years theme is “Over the River and through the Falls”. We are asking for any special memories that you may have of going to Grandmas house. It is always special to everyone, and we hope you are planning to participate. PARADES We will have a float in the Memorial Day Parade (May 26), the Fourth of July Parade (July 3) and the Christmas Parade (November 30) MEMORIALS Our society is blessed with special gifts in memory of present or past society members that have passed on.
