NOTICE = Kankakee Road from Stonewall Road to Goodfarm Road will be CLOSED to traffic for approximately 3-weeks starting today. The road will be opened to local residents and emergency vehicles only. No detour signs will be posted. If you have any questions, please call the Grundy County Highway Department at 1-815-942-0363.

The Gardner Area Band, along with the Flag team and Spirit Line will be marching / performing at the Morris Corn Festival Parade this Sunday, Sept. 27. Come out and support your fellow

Panthers!

The Gardner QUEEN will be crowned this Friday, Sept. 25 in down town Morris!

DO YOU LIKE FOOD? DO YOU WANT A PARTY OF YOUR CHOICE OR AN ICE

CREAM PARTY? If so, participate in the Food Drive! The week of September 28-October 2 will be the Annual Food Drive sponsored by the National Honor Society. All items collected are donated to the Church of Hope located in Gardner for families in our community that are in need.

Many families are struggling at this time and any items collected will be greatly appreciated by the church and families. Let’s take our Panther Pride and bring items and have fun with your class in a “friendly” competition, while helping families in need!

Double Point Days included:

Monday = Personal care items (shampoo, toilet paper, hand soap, etc)

Tuesday = Snacks (fruit snacks, sweets, etc)

Wednesday = Pastas (anything associated with pastas – sauce, noodles, etc)

Thursday = Boxed Goods (crackers, gushers, fruit snacks, etc)

Friday = Canned Goods

Prizes:

1 st

Place = Party of your choice!

2 nd Place = Ice Cream Party!

If any SENIORS have not turned in proof of receiving the meningococcal shot, please do so.

This was supposed to be done BEFORE the start of the school year. Please have this completed and turned into the guidance office ASAP!

If any FRESHMEN have not turned in their physical, please so do. This was supposed to be turned in by the First Day of School. Please turn into the guidance office ASAP!

CLUBS:

There will be a student council meeting Monday, Sept.28

MATH team = Practices will start in October. Our first competition is November 18 th

SADD students = Sign up with Ms. Spiezio to work TAG DAY for the South Willy garage sales on Sat, Oct 10 th . FOUR students are needed to work 1-hour and we need to cover 8:00 AM until 2:00 PM, so we need 24 students to sign up (unless someone wants to work a double shift). You will be standing at the 4way stop with a bucket asking for donations for Prom Lock-in and giving each vehicle a sucker with a positive SADD message on it.

Varsity: GSW 16, 15 Grant Park 25, 25

The Gardner-South Wilmington Panthers (8-2, 3-2) fell to Grant Park 25-16 and 25-

15. Marlana Ferrari led the Lady Panthers with 6 kills, 4 stuff blocks and 4 service aces while Lexi Robison added 4 kills and 3 stuff blocks. Sydney Perkins added 10 assists and Celia Barna added 7 and Jenni Price had 7 digs.

Junior Varsity: GSW 11, 21 Grant Park 25, 25

The Junior Varsity team fell to Grant Park 25-11 and 25-21. Leading the Panthers was Maddie Schuck with 3 kills and Mariah Anderson added an ace and a block.

Mady Asbridge had 5 assists while Anderson and Cadee Grieff shared team high 9 digs.

Color Guard – Practices for parades will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00

AM.

Athletic Season Passes are available for purchase. Please contact Coach Gibson to purchase a pass.

GUIDANCE:

Students, if you are interested in being involved with a county wide youth philanthropy group stop by the guidance office for more information. This is a great opportunity to get involved!

If you are interested in the College of Aces at University of Illinois stop by the guidance office to pick up information on an Open House being held in Chicago on Saturday, October 10 th

. RSVPs are due by October 1 st .

Financial Aid Night has been set for 6 pm on Wednesday, January 27 th

in the cafeteria. This is a very important informational meeting for any student planning to attend college.

JJC COMPASS Testing has been set for 8 am on Thursday, February 18 th

at GSW.

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is meeting with students interested in attending and going over portfolios at two locations: Winnetka on Sept. 26 and Lisle on Sept. 27.

Seniors - If you have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher during your high school career, are a leader and role model in your school and community, and participate in one of 43 eligible sports you should consider applying for the Wendy's High School Heisman Award. JJC will be hosting a College Fair on Wednesday, October 14 th from 5:30-8pm. There will be at least 126 colleges in attendance!! Flyers for the event will be available in the guidance office next Friday.

Washington University in St. Louis will host Admissions Information Sessions on Sunday,
