(Multiple language contests create difficulties like getting judges etc) 2] Children from 3rd std till 11th Std (all faiths) from all the zones of Panvel are eligible to participate. 3] The winners will be declared group wise – i.e. 3rd to 5th; 6th to 8th and 9th to 11th. 4] Entry fee per each contest is Rs 20/- only 5] The zone which enrolls the highest number of participants will be declared as CHAMPION OF ENVIRONMENT and will get an appreciation trophy for their efforts. 7] The zones which enroll minimum 20 participants (not no. of contests) will be considered as a project for SC points. 8] Individually, the top 3 winners in each category will get prizes and certificates. All participants will receive the Participation Certificate. 9] In the contest entries (like poem, essay, slogan etc), participants must write their name and SC no. at the end of the page (not in the beginning) 10] Best entries (essays, poems etc will be published in the GEM E-NEWSLETTER which is being emailed to about 25,000 people and also will be published in the Panvel Pulse Parish bulletin. Environment is a vast topic. Therefore, for specific themes on environment ( example – climate change, plastic menace, zero garbage, junk food, mineral water, organic farming, coal mining, Green Diwali etc etc), participants can visit our church website – www.stfrancisxavierpanvel.in There are more than 25 PowerPoint Presentations on different topics, besides a lot of matter in the archives of GEM E-NEWSLETTERS. You can choose any of the topics for poem, essay, elocution, slogan, poster and drawing contests. Besides website help, participants can take the help of other resources or even their family members. However entries straightaway copied from other published matters will be disqualified. 1] POEM CONTEST: Your poem on any topic of environment should be about 20 lines, neatly written or typed. 2] ESSAY CONTEST: Your essay on any topic of environment should be about 2 pages on foolscap paper, if handwritten (write on one side only) or if typed about 1 page foolscap paper (1.5 space). 3] LETTER WRITING Theme – write a letter advising your friend to celebrate a GREEN DIWALI 2014. (i.e. cracker less Diwali). Contents: about 1 page foolscap paper typed or neatly handwritten Contd pto 4] SLOGAN CONTEST A slogan is a simple, catchy, short phrase to sell your idea of protecting environment. Your slogan can be up to maximum 5/6 words. Write/type your slogan on a plain paper The last date to handover the above entries (poems, essays, letters and slogans) in the parish office is 9th November (zonal coordinators must collectively submit them in the parish office. No individual entries/email entries will be accepted 5] POSTER DRAWING CONTEST Poster contest will be held in our church hall on 16th Nov. from 4 to 5 PM. Your poster should by on any environment theme. Bring your own colour set. Drawing papers will be provided. You can plan your drawing in advance and bring the pencil sketch on a piece of paper. 6] QUIZ CONTEST Quiz contest also will be held on Sunday 16th Nov. after the poster contest. This format of this quiz will be similar to monthly Bible quiz i.e. tick the right answer. All the 50 questions will be chosen from the PPTs from our church website. The quiz contest will begin at 5.10 PM in our church hall. FREE!! CHILDREN’S DAY SPECIAL All the children who participate in various contests are invited for a special children day get-together organized and sponsored by the BCS on the same day (16th Nov.) after the drawing and elocution contests. [Suggestion: Games will be organized by the Panvel Youth (give plan well in advance]. ENVIRONMENT RALLY ON SUNDAY 14TH DECEMBER And prize distribution for the winners of contests Parishioners (all faiths) from all the zones will come in procession with displaying their banners (creative and eco friendly). All will converge at our church hall at about 5 PM. (to avoid long distance walking you are free to meet at a particular spot (about 1 hour walking to the church, say walking from 4 to 5 pm) and come in procession in single file. Please set the time in such a way that you will reach at 5 pm to the church. Appropriate slogans may be used while walking in procession). Register the names of the people beforehand and give them the rally pass which will be also used for some refreshments when they reached the venue (church).► Note to animators: As a motivation to involve as many people in the rally, 1 point per member will be added to your participation points. (see no 5 – rules in general). Zone wise head count will be done by the organising committee as they enter the church gate. Therefore walk of minimum 1 hour is essential with banners and appropriate slogans. Suggested timing of walk from 4 to 5 PM. 5 PM STAGE PROGRAMME As the procession enters the church gate, snack (suggestion – a somosa and cokum juice/rasna) will be picked by each participant from the tables and will proceed to ground floor auditorium for the STAGE PROGRAMME.
