The Provincial Assessment New lead team attended a lead team session at the board. They streamlined the data
and the staff brainstormed within each grade- literacy and math.
6. Long Range Outlook
a. Projections for 2015 was that enrollment would be 602 students. We are currently at 580, 20 kids below where
they projected the enrollment for Basinview. If enrollment reached 602 Basinview School could not house that many
students. Projection for 2016 – Enrollment will be 622. Basinview is included in a list of schools that are part o f a Board
approved Boundary Review . Stephanie Pitcher is going to draft a letter to Steve Wharburton to inquire about the
boundary review. There has been a consistent trend of primary enrollment between 80-100 students
7. New Business
a. Update from SAC PD Session
Ken Marchand attened the SAC PD session. During the PD session Ken read and answered questions pertaining to
the SAC. During the SAC meeting the SAC read and answered the same questions and reviewed the correct
answers. Discussed the role and responsibility of the SAC.
b. Review and feedback to the proposed Boundary Policy
1. Do the principles listed in the School Boundaries policy reflect what is required to allow for an effective
Boundary Policy? If not, what are proposed revisions?
Ken Marchand had a question pertaining to 2.9. Appropriate student and staff resources and furniture. It should
be part of the process but it is currently not there. Basinview School gained 250 kids and the resources did not
follow the children.
Discussed 2.1 The best possible outcome for the students, community and overall board. Discussed and questioned
that during previous boundary reviews some of the board members didn’t know the specifics of the schools in
question.
2. What communication is required between a Boundary Review Committee and SAC at schools that are impacted
by a boundary review?
There is an opportunity for school communication with the community chair and the principal would report
back to the the SAC.
3. Do you have any other comments or concerns regarding the policy?
Section 9 – Timeline. The board committee meetings will take place within the school year.
