FL 18-28: New Condition Code BP - Gulf Oil Spill of 2010
(JULY 2, 2010 ELECTRONIC BALLOT)
*The condition code is to be used for claims with dates of service on or after April 20, 2010.
For Medicare claims, CMS has instructed that the condition code should be placed on claims
submitted as of January 3, 2011. CMS encourages providers, physicians and suppliers to contact
their Medicare contracto to identify services or claims -- submitted and processed prior to the
creation of the Gulf oil spill condition code -- that should have the BP condition code appended.
