Manchester Metropolitan University Fund
Part-time Telephone Fundraiser (Student Caller)
Job Description
There are three main aims to the role:
1) To build relationships between the University and our graduates (alumni)
2) To raise money for the Manchester Metropolitan University Fund (our regular giving
programme)
3) To learn new skills
The role is a great chance to help fellow and future students, to have some fantastic
conversations with graduates and to meet new people – all whilst earning £7.50/hour!
What is the Manchester Metropolitan University Fund?
It is a way for past students (alumni) to give money to the University in an easy and effective
way. The regular giving programme raises money each year towards projects that will
benefit students at the University, today and in the future.
The telephone campaign isn’t just about fundraising however, it is also a great way for the
University to stay in touch with alumni and build long-term relationships. Alumni enjoy
hearing from current students about what it’s like to be a student today and reminiscing
about their own experiences.
What does being a Student Caller involve?
Student Callers will phone former students (alumni) to update them on University events and
news from the University, gain valuable feedback on events they have attended and
publications they receive, and ask them to support priority-funding areas with a donation.
Although the caller’s main objective will be to raise money, it is essential that all alumni have
a meaningful and enjoyable conversation, which will help to build their relationship with us.
Callers will need to keep accurate records of their calls on our calling software and write a
short, personal email or postcard to the people they have spoken with.
