Stefanie Wirth
I am a geologist interested in late Quaternary sedimentology and climate. My particular research focus
has been on recent and Holocene hydroclimatic variations in the Alps and the Mediterranean area. To
approach my research questions I use sedimentological, (bio-)geochemical, hydrochemical and
geophysical techniques.

 Present and Holocene hydroclimate: forcing, extremes, atmospheric circulation and moisturesource changes
 Varved lake sediments as high-resolution archives for annual and seasonal changes
 Hydrogeology of Quaternary sediments
 Stable isotope (bio-)geochemistry
 Influence of human activities on riverine and lacustrine systems
